My favorite part is how cheap these things are in China, but stupidly expensive in North America.

from the graph, we could purchase the entirety of China's exports of lithium and solar modules ... and still have 35 billion left over with the proposed ICE budget?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, visiting Guangzhou there's e-mopeds, e-cars, e-busses and solar parking everywhere. The noise pollution is so much less. Too bad China's a dictatorship and not a democracy.

Oh the GOP, are just a bunch of pussies

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not surprised at all. The GOP under Trump would literally vote to kill themselves in ten years if they could profit a lot tomorrow. They have zero long game on anything. Just dumb as shit people being bought out by coal, oil, and foreign interests to keep us declining.

same applies to USAID and American soft power. Welcome to the Chinese century, folks!

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A reminder that the US dominated the latter half of the 20th century because it was manufacturer to the world. That made it wealthier and more powerful than any of the other surviving WWII nations. At this point, anyone trying to instigate WWIII is actively trying to make China the dominant nation of the 21st century.

And public health...and national debt....and diplomatic relations....and soft power and aide to the world's poor....and university research....and education of the population, basic education....and the safety net for the poor, workers....and relations with the Global South and developing nations....and use of the UN as a forum for diplomacy....and cordial treatment of allies, support development of strategic alliances....

America is nothing more than a force multiplier for capitalists.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The right wing that controls the US now is 100% capitalist. Nothing else matters; everything they say and do serves the interest of the smallest amount of Americans, who happen to be the richest.

The incoming fossil fuel crash? The dissolution of millions of non-human lifeforms? The slow decay of the entire world? All paltry shadows of the TRUE reigning king here... the comfort and luxury of a few hundred people.

Remember when Trump asked oil companies for a billion dollars in campaign funds? This is the oil companies coming to collect.

Oh but we're right on their heels for the AI race! Gotta burn more coal so we can keep the dead internet dead.

2023 data.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really wouldn't give a shit if China surpassed the US if it wasn't the exact sort of authoritarian hellhole the US is becoming.

1 month ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

To their credit they’ve got decades more practice

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Decades. Try thousands of years.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This particular flavour with mass media and industrialized oppression I mean.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

frankly, if you only look geopolitaclly consequences, I almost rank China above the US lately; it's only cuz I don't think trump will give up nato in the end, nor enter greenland. But if he does it ....

Russia is dead without China. Who do you think is pushing all of this? Nuttingyahoo, Sheshitting and Uno

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Who are these monikers supposed to be? I guessed Netanyahu...

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I refuse to apply the given name to a monster. Nuttingyahoo, Sheshitting, Poopin, Kim Uno. Making a joke about a dictator is a crime, a crime I happily commit. Condemn me and be a joke

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Also, krasnov is so pathetic as to not need mention

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're not condemning you, we're confused because your names are . . . not terribly clear.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have no problem with mocking nicknames for those assholes, but they need to be a bit clearer.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this isn't surprising at all, trump's an idiot who is living like it were the 60s

1 month ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 0

They don’t know by what sorcery labor becomes profit. They assume the value is measured in suffering.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think the whole geo political world knows that and are surfing this wave for all the benefits it will last for their countries.
Everyone is getting what they can from the situation while the US's defenses (soft power) are at its lowest.

1860'ss?

He thinks he's the best CEO that ever existed and running a country like a company is the way to better profits for the board.

1 month ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

like I said, he's an idiot

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I don’t disagree , but The data in the post is from 2023.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think he said like 1910-ish was the golden age. That's what he's trying to recreate and with these bills he's doing a fantastic job. Poor families were (are) a living resource to use, abuse, profit from, and kill at the whim of the rich. Rich don't need to contribute to society and are treated as royalty. It's becoming exactly what he thinks is ideal which is disastrous.

The guilded age, when even SCOTUS had an identity crisis and union busting was at its peak, no thank you, but I don't doubt your words

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's not an idiot. Coal barons and oil tycoons paid him to give them a few more years. He knows exactly what he's doing.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

For the longest time I can't tell if he is smart and using a false public persona to manipulate people, or if he truly is just that stupid and was born lucky and rich.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the second one

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if he knew what he was doing he wold not have bankrupt a casino

1 month ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You both make compelling arguments lol

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

except ayers231 types better, or checks his post before hitting

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wasn't all of the money funneled back to him and out of the company though? Technically his company had 3 failed casinos

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was a money laundering operation.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yes it's stupid as fuck, but can we talk about this format? it just seems kindof obscure, like, why would you use something soo weird if you really want to get your point across?

1 month ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 7

Bc the US pie piece is so gd small you wouldn’t be able to see it… and bubble charts are stupid…

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think it's trying to show which countries are producing and which are buying. I agree not the best format. I guess makes it fitting that they put "hard to read at the moment" alongside it :)

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's actually a fundamental chart type in economics. Very common and important. Not really a better visualization for this type of data. Just unfortunately ppl here never took an econ class in high school.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

cool explain why it's soo vague?

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It does show the largest source and destination numbers. And visualizes the source and target size differences. I would like to see coal, oil and gas graphs as well. And other graphs about trends, but I do like that graph.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a pretty standard chart used for this exact purpose. Called a Sankey chart. There isn't a better visualization. Your teachers failed to teach you about this extremely common type of chart. It shows the flow of resources from one node to another. In this case, it shows imports and exports of tech from the US and China to other places

1 month ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

"this is the best" "you are poorly educated" you clearly missed my point, while, exemplyfying why it needed to be said quite well, thanks bud ;)

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 12

You literally called it "stupid as fuck" I have no obligation to be kind to someone who so proudly shows both their ignorance and arrogance

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I meant the situation is stupid as fuck, which, it is, hard to be clear with few words, guess I failed this time, w/e.. there's always tomorrow...

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh neat! Now try again without being a dick about it?

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 10

Nah, hard pass, guy-who-called-it "stupid as fuck"

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn’t call it stupid as fuck, and the one that did was talking about the decisions, not the graph type? I think? Either way, would be nice if internet strangers didn’t go immediately to being assholes all the time. Some people are just trying to learn.
