DVD has mamy Easter Eggs, one of which explains either Buckaroo or Professor Hikita had a plan to end world hunger by air lifting - and then dropping - watermelons into areas where they were needed.

I honestly didn't think Buckaroo Bonzai was of the generation of movies that would be re-released on BluRay. And I think studios want to just make money, don't care about programming "fancy" xtras, viewers just don't care about hard copy vids, and viewers don't enjoy adventuring thru DVD menus to find fun.
