Remember when Google translate had options for Hillbilly, Jive and Swedish Chef.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We had fun back in the day and it shows

"all hosed up"? Are you sure that isn't the Canadian version?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are, in fact, Canadian rednecks.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss text panels.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Curses!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well I'll be damned

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh god, I heard my own voice reading this. What have I become?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've only eve seen a few Youtube clips, but I "heard" Larry the cable guy when I was reading all of these.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HOLY SHIT! I had forgotten about that! XD Thank you for posting!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not enough y'all

Mmm SCSI (Scuzzy) Small Computer System Interface.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think IBM should bring this back

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s awesome, I wish would have tried it one time and been surprised.

That reminds me of thedialectizer. Redneck, fudd, jive- translate to all! http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Translating trump tweets is fun. "moron" does not work, comes out the same.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there was a win95 version like this, that said typeriter and innernets

CATCH A RIDE!

Waiting for the gif from Idocracy of her saying Upgrade.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget that Facebook still has a Pirate language option

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

what in tarnation is this hippy xwindow shenanigan?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, Redneck was used to develop the internationalization features of the RedHat Installer, and later, the whole OS.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well tarnation, I reckon that we are in a whole mess of beans. Ain't nothing but a job for those fellas at that computer shop.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was also the Magic Smoke reference in the HCL fun times until RH got "serious" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_smoke

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

also, one of the download options on the support website was "tarballs"

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now Red Hat is all like... Enterprise Grade Professional and bullshit

5 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 0

They are owned by IBM, so yeah.

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

That's not the why though...

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They were that way before we bought them

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, its probably why IBM bought them.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh. Kinda. We bought it to further empower our cloud services and the open source software that empowers it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ubuntu is the new Red Hat

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

How's Fedora these days? I settled into Slackware back in 2004 and just kinda stayed there.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Buggy, but coreos fedora is pretty cool if you want to run an os that’s mostly containerized apps

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I swear, the early days of computing were wild and fun. Plus updates actually WERE improvements.

5 years ago | Likes 703 Dislikes 2

On linux, not actually. you'll gonna spend half of your time finding a compatible driver.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. We wrote business software in Turbo Pascal (don’t ask) and next to English, Spanish, and German we added Viennese — because.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every time windows updates, photoshop decides it doesn’t want to open files or create new ones. Thanks Adobe! Thanks Microsoft!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

my pc WINDOWS WILL UPDATE NOW! 2-3 hours later at 99% WINDOWS HAS DETECTED A PROBLEM WITH THE UPDATE PLEASE TRY AGAIN

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly, everything so fresh and new....people are really spoiled now and don't understand how truly innovative most technology was/is.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was the Wild West

*jumps around firing .45 rounds through saloon ceiling into server room above*

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when excel amd word had hidden pinball and flight simulator in them? That was the shit

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Back then when you got an update "holy shit, finally!" now "holy shit! Again?"

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

More like, "NO, NO! Don't install that!" Or, "Did they finally fix that thing the forums have complained about for 5 years? NOPE!"

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Is it going to stop having my horse randomly explode and lose all my stuff?" "14.55.1:in app purchases occasionally not charged, resolved"

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The newest nvidia drivers forgot to include the fucking control panel of all things

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

LOL, I hope AMD graphics start kicking them in the nards like they are doing to Intel right now. Competition is a good thing for all.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Main issue for me with ATI/AMD graphics has always been the drivers stability. Has improved a LOT after AMD bought them but still a bit iffy

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And gaming was great too, I miss old school expansion packs vs dlc

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

When I was a kid I bought Zoo tycoon with dinos. The excitement was soon killed by realisation you need the main game. So I pirated it ...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just wish everyone did it like Witcher, Blood and Wine is a friggin masterpiece and beats 50% of the games out there by itself

sadly, that's one thing everyone actually does in the gaming business, unlike good DLCs

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, it still is, but it was great then too.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Linux still is

I remember when a video card update would break everything

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I once burned out a video card after installing a mod to increase performance in need for speed. Can't do that anymore, stupid nanny state.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You might get an extra 5 fps and get Descent running. You might brick your entire system. Gotta spin that revolver and pull the trigger.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Or having to move the mouse to get data from the modem because you ran out of IRQs and one card drove rather than pull the signal up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And sound cards breaking keyboards because they used the same IRQ

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

IRQ jumpers. PNP was the crazy wizardry we never deserved

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And sound cards that also provided your joystick port

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not like now, where your favorite function is suddenly buried five menus deep by the latest upgrade.

5 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 0

And doesn’t work the same once you find it

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

at least now you've got the round avatars you've always wanted

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Airplane mode in Windows 10 is a crime against humanity.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

'Oh - you never wanted that function, so we removed it'.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I swear to god Microsoft makes the system/device settings progressively harder to access every update

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah. I've installed and removed Win10 four times because of my disgust with that. Still rocking Win7 despite vulnerabilities.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When they kill off the old control panel completely a lot of computers are going to get binned for software problems I think

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*shakes fist at office where I now need three extra buttons to choose a folder when saving*

5 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Ugh, preach

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What, you don't want to automatically save absolutely everything to OneDrive???

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Photoshop does that crap when I wanna save now. "Wait, do you really want to save this your computer?"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What kind if "maniac anti cloud" usage is this heresy? What's next? Local mp3 and mkv files instead of streaming services?

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I suddenly realize why it's so hard to pira-LEGALLY PROCURE music these days. Huh. Fuck my antiquated preferences, I guess.
