A helicopter can autogyro in. It basically glides. Similar to a gyro-copter which doesn't have a powered main rotor.
A quadcopter like the one shown, if 2 motors on the same arm goes out, it would take a really good pilot with just the right wind circumstances to land it. That is, IF that particular one is even capable of flying on 3 pairs. Without main rotors, it CAN have a parachute if you are high enough..

It's exactly the same way my orange snuggles with me. Jump to shoulder, full bodyweight headbutts and face rubs. Thankfully he's like 6lbs at most though, not quite the same size as a lion!
