benchmarking drives with linux disk utilities

samsung SSD (2013)

seagate hard disk (2022)

addlink NVMe (2020)

seagate hard disk (2017)

same addlink as before, repeated because of high variability in results. This time with more samples (1000 samples), something strange happens during the test and write speed drops from 1GB/s to 400MB/s but read speed is fixed to 3400MB/s. Any idea why?

Are you adding heat sinks to the nvme drives? They get hot and thermal throttle

No I don't have any heatsinks but it's winter now and cold in my room ? in any case I'm not that bothered by the performance drop.

You can grab one for a few dollars online, they’re not expensive. It’ll help extend silicon life too.
