So my walls are made of a lightweight concrete. They are 4 1/2 inches thick. Screws dont hold well in them.

So I used all thread and a washer to secure the shelf to the wall.

I cam up with this idea when I got my finger stuck in a wall at chipotle

I made this years ago when I only had a drill and a miter saw. I made it on my apartment porch and had to sharpen my drill bit every 4 holes (dont by cheap tools)

I used closet rod as the shelf pegs and to even out the hole in both pieces of plywood when screwing them together

I screw the shelf to the dowels so the will only come out if you pull them straight back. In the future I might put a slight cant on the dowel so the shelves would be wedged in.

I used 5/8 inch b/c ply for the back and 3/5 inch sanded ply for the face

My 6 month old son loves the lights. I will eventually remake this now that I have better tools and I'm thinking of expanding it to fill this wall. It's a easy modular book shelf the required minimal tools. A drill and a Forster bit. All the cuts can be made at you local big box store.

Use a concrete plug

I've had some success with leadhead anchors and Tipton but I have to keep the torque low or it pulls the concrete apart.
