I'm a bad person

Seriously though... It's not possible to do that job well or badly, beyond throwing a pizza on my roof. Asking for a tip before they even deliver anything is effectively saying "please pay the delivery guy's wage for us". Just stop lying about the price already, and charge an amount you can pay your drivers reasonably at.

I know it's not true in practice, but the delivery cost should cover the driver's wages and expenses. This is one reason I always collect

This is why I never tip my delivery guy. It's not 'cause I'm a cheap asshole.

My boyfriend refuses to get delivery because you have to pay a delivery fee plus tip the driver. We always pick up.

As a husband. I also refuse to get delivery for that reason. Order an extra meal or pay tip+fee. No brainer imo.

Glad I never delivered to you!

I started making my own pizzas from scratch a few years ago. I don't like ordered pizza anymore. Kids love helping too. No tipping issues!

You said it, title.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Then just use cash instead of the site or whatever that is.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

OP is definitely a faggot here.....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Hey now, I know a couple faggots who would be VERY upset with you for associating them with someone who doesn't tip.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why you do carryout. Also can get better deals that way, like Domino's Pizza.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you should be tipped. Into the nearest body of water.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Happens alot with the food delivery services I have gone through. They put a 30-40% mark up on tip every time. It's crazy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op delivery drivers don't have any compensation for the wear on their car or their gas from their employees either (which is why you tip).

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

the government compensates for these things if the workplace does not, you just have to make sure to keep track and put it in your taxes

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They should be reasonably compensated for those costs then - it's not my job as a customer to pay them.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If you honestly think they're going to start compensating for that, I have a bridge to sell you (same with paying servers proper wages).

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I bet you trash hotel rooms and say "Whatever, it's their job to clean", too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I manage a delivery place. I can confirm that, while difficult, there are some drivers who do their job horribly. Also, most companies (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Hire drivers on as contractors rather than employees so they can get away with paying very little and expecting the tips to make up the rest

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

We pay our drivers an 8.50 minimum so we can keep delivery fees around a buck and drivers aren't fucked by low tips.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If you don't want to tip your driver, maybe YOU should be the one to do the driving. The drivers often won't even get gas money.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Then they should refuse to drive until they're paid an amount that covers their costs. I know America hates unions, but...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Maybe you should move to a culture where they don't tip. Otherwise, just drive there pick it up yourself, you cheapskate.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Jesus you people really hate tipping. Fine. If you don't want to tip, inform them before placing your order that you're not gonna do it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Otherwise they're performing services for you based on the idea that they'll get tipped. Don't lie. Don't rip them off. Don't be an asshole.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That seems like a problem that should be handled between the employer and employee not shoved onto the customer.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's how American restaurant culture is. You tip your server. Your driver is just a server who goes farther.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

If you don't want to tip, then inform them before placing your order that you won't be tipping. Don't rip them off, at least.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Where I worked, we literally had to threaten to stop deliveries to get our boss to add a fee, because people wouldn't tip.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

(and it absolutely wouldn't have worked if there were more than five people working at the place, including the two bosses.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford the food, from there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

And again - it's not my job to pay the delivery driver's costs - it's up to the person employing them to pay them reasonably.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If tipping in a culture that tips servers is such a hardship for you, then you really shouldn't be eating out. You can't afford it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I'm not a fan of servers paid in tips either, but that's an *entirely* different question, and much much more complex than this one.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And when you don't tip, you're screwing over the person who gets $2/h, not the person who only pays them $2/h.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Rationalize it however you like, it will never change the fact that you're still the asshole in that scenario.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Actually, not true - if you don't tip them, the employer has to make up the difference. By tipping, you literally allow the employer to 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At long as at the end of the year, it doesn't go below minimum wage* Can't pay? Don't buy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

pay them less. Effectively that tip goes straight to the employer 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the problem - delivery drivers aren't servers - servers can actually do their job well or badly, delivery drivers just hand me a box.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Delivery drivers can definitely do their job well, unless you don't mind a pizza with all toppings crumpled on one side of the box.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

No, that's not "not doing their job well", that's "not doing their job at all". Their job is to get food to you in reasonable condition.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If you're not willing to pay for the service, don't get it. Stop being such a selfish, lazy cunt and go get it, yourself, from now on.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I'm totally willing to pay for the service. A tip isn't payment for a service - it's a voluntary gift for exceptional service.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As I said in your redundant comment - a tip isn't payment for a service, it's a voluntary gift.

OP presents a problem, then a solution. What a whore...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah what an unpopular opinion that people should have better lives. CURSE YOU AND YOUR RADICAL OPINIONS OP!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You know, Israel and Palestine should just get along. I'm so thoughtful and wonderful. Votes, please!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Now the solution?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They should both just agree to stop fighting and be friends. Kinda like how restaurant owners would just start paying their servers fairly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How about instead, if you don't like American restaurant culture including tipping, don't participate. Vote with your wallet, not theirs.
