Scored a nice Ilex lens, 6" Seminat. Not much information on this lens on the internet.

The shutter works but it is about 2 stops slow. It could be used but will go in for a service anyway.

The lens *might* have been coated but I don't think it is now. I see 4 strong reflections so that means two air-spaced elements in the front lens group

Rear group looks to have just two strong reflections, which seems odd. I may be checking the lens wrong. I think this should be a cemented doublet.

Little bit of old discarded cherry a d some time with a pencil and paper, some wood glue, etc.

Got the frame made, then cut the rabbet and lock groove for the film holder.

Guide rails for the ground glass and film holder

Film holder fitted in place. Next up is the ground glass frame and the wear plates.

I used to have a 4x5 camera. If you need a quick replacement for ground glass, use regular glass and coat it with matte clear spray paint. A very light coat is all that's needed. It was good enough to get me through school, and I sold that camera and never heard any complaints about it.

I'll be grinding my own glass, it's not too hard. It's harder for me to get the cuts right on the glass than get a nice even grind going.

6" ≈ 15 centimetres

Which, I'm told, is satisfactory
