Craftsman miter saw makes quick work of the pine. I knocked the 8ft boards in half.

All of them halved, now to joint the edges.

Before glue up and making pockets for the legs.

Bench exploded while jointing. Time to beef it up and install the deal of a century I got while on vacation.

Supports added and this quick adjust vice I got for $15(usually sells for over $150) this will be much sturdier.

Glue mock up. I've got two small pieces that ive planed down to make the spacing for the legs.

And glue up. I used titebond 3.

Then to plane smooth. I used my fulton No.5 with a deep crossgrain cut followed by my Stanley No.4.

Different angle.

Planed vs not. All of the wood used was the straightest pine studs I could find at Lowe's

Ready for jointing.

The top assembly developed a bow causing the gaps on the end.

Nothing the Stanley No7 wont fix.

Final glue up for the top.

Now for legs. I had a super not fun time cutting the sliding dovetails for the outer leg because I didnt have a proper back saw when I started. It came in the mail at about leg 4.

Here you can see how they are assembled. A tenon for the inner leg and a sliding dovetail for the outer leg and a piece butted up to the top and everything is glued together.

Almost there.

Out of order picture, but this angle shows the dovetails well.

Bonus shot of all the tools used all but the veritas saw are either fleamarket finds or my great grandfathers tools.

Bonus shot of jäger trying his damndest to eat wood shavings.
