Buttons breaking off thermostat; can I just replace the face?

Nov 27, 2021 8:20 AM

Little nubs broke off the timer but I can still set them.

Most problematic: little nub broke off the hold button and it’s recessed so that there’s no way to access it manually.

Detail of broken button/connection to the button on the motherboard.

There is a c wire, for what that’s worth.

Biggest problem will be getting the spare parts (unless you have access to a 3d printer and a lot of spare time).

Do what you have to do. Like this post I saw before this where a knife was turned into a door knob.

You can do anything you set your mind to.

Update for all y’all: this is a communicating system; when changed to a non-comm. thermostat heat bill up 25%. Not quite so simple, huh?

Just buy a new thermostat at this point. This is the second post i've seen with this pile of crap in a few days. ~$20 Honeywell is better.

You are apparently clueless about HVAC and shouldn’t comment as though you know what you’re talking about.

Basic thermostats are pretty cheap & really easy to install. I’d go the replacement route.

Looks like an afinity stat for carrier, you’ll need the stat that is compatible.
