My grandma grew up poor. Dirt poor. During the great depression, her family lived out of a tent and only ate food they could forage or hunt. She told me stories about her family having a potato for dinner. A single potato. The 4 kids would share the potato, and her parents would drink the water the potato was boiled in. That kind of upbringing will make a person tough enough to survive just about anything.

Unfortunately with that toughness also comes stubbornness and hard-headedness. To give you an idea of how bad that can be, a story. A few years ago she had her hip replaced (she's in her early 90s). Shortly after, she was up and around. The doctors want you using it as quickly as possible, but to her, that means going back to life as usual. A couple weeks later, she was in her garage, putting stuff away on a high shelf, and fell off of a ladder. I'm honestly surprised she told anyone it happened. A month later... 4 FUCKING WEEKS LATER, she finally complains about her back hurting. We take her to the doctor, and find out that she had shattered 3 of her vertebrae in her lower back. They were shattered so badly, they tried an experimental procedure because it was the only thing they could try. She fully recovered, or at least we think she did. She'd never tell us if she was still in pain.

There's a very good chance she'll ignore everyone telling her to stay at home. There's also a very good chance she'll never tell anyone if she starts to feel sick, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. If she manages to catch covid-19, we won't find out until she's literally on her death bead.

Dont worry, she may not tell, but she will show everyone soon.

Sounds like Covid-19 would be smart to stay the fuck away from your Grandma.

Your Gran sounds like the sort of person who’s gonna punch death right in the dick and carry on living when he comes visiting

My grandparents were like this, both grew up during the Depression and on farms- tough as nails, stubborn as all Hell. I blame them for me
