Oh boy hope you guys are ready for story time.
So, around the time this game came out, my dad decided to let me mess around with FarCry 2's map editor. He didn't want me playing the main campaign 'cause he felt I wasn't old enough, but he did feel it was safe for me to mess with this.
I made some pretty crazy shit with this editor for a good summer or so. They've since been lost to time, but I remember most of them pretty vividly. A spooky canyon, a deserted town (that used as few pre-built buildings as possible), a weird industrial plant in a pit, a flooded skyscraper, and so on.
My favorite that I made was this big boat map, though. Mostly because it wad the first and only time I actually considered how it would work on the gameplay side.
But as I moved past this game, my desire to make maps never really went away. Minecraft kinda fed that craving for a while, but eventually I moved onto actual level editors for the games I started playing later. Nowadays I make a lot of maps for source engine games, and I'm not sure I would be doing that today if it weren't for this game.
TL;DR, this game spurred my passion for level design.
