I only came across them recently too. Our cats' reaction to them is pretty mild in comparison to catnip, but yours may be like @Starcrested above . . .
I have 5 cats (indoor) With catnip, 2 lick it up, are rolling on the floor then get very aggressive for a few seconds. The other 3 roll on the floor for a bit then leave it. If its a catnip infused toys, they lick it to death and forget it forever. The silvervine stick has lasted a month of love and counting. They dont get aggressive or so 'high' with it.
We have three indoor cats, down from five after a bad 2024, and our experience is a bit different. One couldn't care less about any form of catnip, while the other two like catnip but cant' be bothered with infused toys. They like the sticks, but like yours they're a bit more reserved after they nibble on it . . .
I have some on the way! Thank you! Anything I can do for my cats- they deserve the best I can get for them. With catnip, my cats are hissing at each other one moment and then grooming each other the next. It will be interesting to see what the Silvervine sticks do.
Glad to help Hyyr. We're the same here with whatever the cats like - they get as much as they want. We're always on the lookout for toys and food and such that might give them some happiness, and so far we seem to be doing alright. At the moment their biggest likes are hot-water bottles and thick blankets to get lost in, mind you it did snow here again today . . .
Thanks @Hyyr, although I prefer to think that it's the subject that makes the shot.
I'm pretty cr*ppy with video to tell the truth. It doesn't hold the same interest for me, so I tend not to put anywhere near as much effort into it . . .
Don’t knock the quality Jimbo. There are some great shots. It goes to prove that nearly every cat dissolves when confronted by catnip. We had a big tough Tom cat and je used to go completely gaga when he was presented with it. He just couldn’t hold himself back. It was anazing to witness.😻
The same happened or happens with all the cats we've had or have. With the conspicuous exception of TJ. He's not interested in it at all, and never has been . . .
My cats go crazy when I put catnip down for them. I like to put it down when they are not in the room, and see how long it takes them to discover it (not long).
That’s interesting. I never stopped to think that they could trace it from afar as it were. I think I’ve only ever really had one cat who was not a catnip junkie. It didn’t do anything for it at all. I say it as I can’t remember whether it was a Tom or female.
I've heard that some cats don't respond to catnip (but there are other herbs they do), but all the cats I've had loved it. I've read that cats can detect the active ingredient in catnip like one part in a billion or some such crazy number. Cats are such amazing creatures that nothing surprises me about them anymore.
They are indeed amazing and so worthy of the love that we show them. I love the fact that it has been proven that they have the ability to lower one’s blood pressure. I so wish I could have one.😻

Silvervine Stick? my cats love it more than catnip
Hyyr
I'd never even heard of those, and I've had cats my whole life. I just ordered a pack. My cats go crazy over catnip.

Yes, but for our three its the opposite. They like it, but they much prefer catnip.

I didn't have time to grab a decent camera, so I popped these off with my phone . . .

In the hands of a master, even an inferior instrument can perform wonders. Thank you for the shots- the video of Chataro is awesome.

Trust TJ to be different. There again, why shouldn’t he be?

I've never come across a cat who didn't like catnip, but I guess some don't . . .
