The reviewing systems have been broken for almost 20 years. If you're not cheating, you're not trying. The only people taking cookie-cutter online reviews seriously are fools and corporate overlords. Sorry, fools.
Anyone notice how most online reviews of specific products from "review" websites are basically just summaries of Amazon reviews now? Like you go to look for an in-depth review of an expensive product before you buy it and it takes some digging before you can find a website where the person who wrote the article actually held and used the thing. I don't want to see a listicle. I want some nerd who knows all about this class of expensive thing telling me specifically why it's shit or not.
I remember working at a retail store which gave a 1-5 rating but they only cared about the 1 or 5. so anything else was counted as 0, which I think is dumb... if you're going to ask for input but only take "good or bad" as an answer why give 3 other options which mean nothing?
I worked a place where if someone mentioned our name in a 5 star review the business tipped us $5. It was a good option for people who wanted to tip but couldn't afford to.
I agree that you shouldn't trust crowd sourced reviews

Throw in the chocolate cream filled and I'll leave a yelp review about how you all saved my life.

The screen was too dusty and my eyes glazed over the words.

2 dozen and I won't lie about what I put in my review.

I very rarely review unless it directly benefits the employee.

this isn't "bribing for a survey answer", it's paying me for labor.

I have been outright bribed, like with cash, to give good reviews.

My feedback can be bought, fuck corporate

That's not even corporate. That's the employees who are trying to look good for corporate. Which is way better
