Correct - there's no official language in England but it is the *legal* language to be used in courts, having taken over from Latin previously, although it took from 1362 until 1730 (!) to formalise that.
Its gonna be so they don't have to provide interpreters for people who don't speak English(at court hearing, government functions, ect). Wonder if they'll fire all the sign language interpretors too? Another "cruelty is the point" kind of thing
