whats the difference between preferable plants and weeds? personal preferences. i personally like dandelions, clover, and ground ivy to fescue because it looks better and provides nutrients to pollinators

no they aren't, grass is a family of plants that range from lawn grass, to rice/corn/wheat, to bamboo and even palm trees.
weeds are simply a plant growing where its not wanted
similar to the difference between fruit and vegetables, vegetables are just a term used to denote certain sub groups, its not a biological term
