When walking around in the snow, or just walking outside when it’s freezing, have you ever come home with a bunch of small cracks or cuts in your fingers? According to old Japanese folklore, this is the work of the Kama Itachi: a mythical weasel with sickles on its forelegs (sometimes just really sharp claws) that comes outside when it’s cold.

It makes cuts on peoples’ skin (for what reason, we do not know) and then disappears. It rides dust-devils and tiny whirlwinds to get around. I think the Pokémon Sneasel is based on this myth.

My cat must have descended from one of these. He def has sickles for claws, doesn't hesitate to use them when we play and he gets worked up
