I did an airshow in the Navy. We had an OPSEC briefing: don’t reveal the aircraft or its mission. Then they told us we’d be doing a static display—with sandwich boards explaining exactly that. We just stared at each other like, “Didn’t we just get trained not to do this?” Still, it was a good time.

Never understood the appeal for airshows, using weapons of war that are needed by countries like Ukraine or Poland itself to stem Russian agression as a prop to blow some colored smoke in the air and do some twirlies.

Airshow (aerobatics) planes are usually a past generation, that would have been sold off or dumped otherwise. These planes are neither modern nor combat ready. E.g. US Thunderbirds are flying F16, UK Red Arrows fly Hawk T1. (The pilots are top tier though.)
