Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. -Martin Luther King, Jr. The inspiration for the first of my new 'Midnight Marauder' series of lamps...

I seek old damaged and dilapidated vintage electronics including microphones that have been neglected and left to rot in garages and forgotten in junk piles. My passion is to restore these vintage treasures into unexpected and interactive accent desk lamp displays.

I restore and modify these beautiful vintage pieces back to life but repurposed as accent desk lamps to be displayed front and center, once again in the spotlight and celebrated every day for their beautifully stylized form following function.

This 1950s Turner 666 was beat battered and bruised. puncture holes, rotted and parts seized in place. This beautifully industrial styled microphone had not heard a sound in decades. To add insult to injury no one had cared much for this handsome fellow in too too long.

A few tacos short of a combination plate...we're missing some parts and pieces and what is here is long damaged and weathered but the art is to make due with found objects, determination, and will. I'm gunna Love this guy back into shape if it kills me. Look at this mess, this guy deserves a little better no?

Ballast wit pitch to increase the mass and deaden and mechanical resonance of the assembly this vintage tar like compound has got to go. Stinky, sticky, and everywhere! I lean on the heat gun, a sacrificial chisel, and a ton of patience to clean and sanitize these 80+ year old parts. Slow and steady wins the race. To get you back in the house we're gunna need to put our best foot forward!

Inspired by the original 2 tone red on black paint scheme I used industrial 'Crinkle' paint to recreate the original industrial finish in Midnight black and a deep scarlet red paint scheme. Cracks, holes, and seams patched and repaired the bodywork completed I had to make a couple attempts to fabricate an appropriate yoke bracket from scratch and source the socket and lead for electrical connectivity and mounting hardware.

Back on his feet from decades of neglect, sanitized and illuminated! Welcome back Mr. Turner to the land of the living.

I build a custom LED array for each lamp based on the available space and mechanical connectivity. Hand built and soldered each lamp I build has a dozen recallable colors built in.

The Crinkle paint took a few tries but what a handsome finish.

This guys been around the block a few times but now looking for a loving home indoors to be celebrated and admired for years to come.

Here paused between a Blue and Purple fade, A dozen selectable colors as well as color fading patterns and animations for color changing with diming and speed control via wireless remote allows for solid, blended, or animated lighting displays.

Here paused in a Sunset combination of purple and amber. Looks between mild and wild are available to coordinate with your aesthetic, decor, color pallet, or mood.

Every nut/bolt/screw removed, cleaned, sanitized, painted, polished, and restored to its former glory. ON or OFF stealing the show center stage.

I use an optical film with an embossed 'optical grille' for a smooth diffused light output perfect as an accent, mood, or night light.

Smooth broad light output in saturated colors in multiple options.

From office to the bedroom, if you've got that Lovin' feeling or singing the Blues. Match your mood, decor, or holiday.

Looks fabulous, some of those old drive-in movie speakers might work well with your concept of turning into lights?

Thank you! I’ve had my eye on some drive in speakers for a while now. I def will someday. I recently did a 1960s rotary phone and a decommissioned radiation detector. Its fun to mix things up a bit!
