A few days ago, you guys met my newly rescued crested gecko, Emily. She’s doing great! However her enclosure is NOT. She’s been living with zero enrichment, nowhere to hide, and nothing but her own poop. Her previous owner bought Emily with this tank, so maybe she thought it was all crested geckos need? Idk. But this doesn’t fly in my mini menagerie

Emily’s new gecko mansion! All live plants (helps hold humidity and offers enrichment with texture, smells, and climbing), real corkbark (for hiding), and mixed tropical substrate for the plants and humidity. I try to mimic my animals’ natural environments as closely as possible. Hopefully Emily is about to be a much much happier and healthier crestie now!
Please please PLEASE research a pet before you purchase or adopt one!! Whether it’s a dog, cat, reptile, bird, or invertebrate: that’s a life you are completely responsible for. And if you don’t do the right thing by your pet because you’re uneducated or lazy, you shouldn’t have a pet. Full stop.
Here’s Emily exploring her new home! https://imgur.com/gallery/day-whatever-of-me-trying-to-change-people-s-minds-about-reptiles-T41yP3c

Youd think people would at least do some reseaech before getting ANY animal... im happy that you gave her "new house keys" and she's now a happy little bugger 🖤

You’d think! But it’s amazing how many times I’ve heard a breeder giving a complete rundown on husbandry and I’m just like…this is very basic info you should already know….

woohoo! yay for Emily. Living the high life.
You and your beautiful soul!

Thank you!! I take husbandry seriously because these guys deserve the best care possible :)

I love reptiles. Would changing my mind make me dislike them?
stonedlikeicheckedoutmedusa
Nahh, but hopefully this give you a better education of what they need vs what you see in pet stores :)

From surviving to thriving hopefully

Hell yeah!!!
Nofoxlefttogive
That looks so much nicer!
stonedlikeicheckedoutmedusa
I mean it’d be hard to make it look worse lol!
Thank you; it’s my first time making a pink enclosure and I like how it turned out! :(

I remember getting a bearded dragon as a teenager. I tried every guide I could and gentle hand holding. She was just a super angry one though. We ended up selling her back to the breeder because no matter what I tried she was extremely aggressive. =\

Sometimes it just doesn’t work out :/

Ya, I ended up trying fancy white rats next. Jonathon and Jenner from the rats of Nihm. I came home in the rain with them and surprised my mom. Though to her credit she supported me and took me to get cages and such. I did it to make peace with my brother who loved the series. He ended up shunning me further though, long story. Mom loved them. They were good pets.

I’ve heard rats are excellent pets but I have 3 snakes. I could never have rats :/

I do not like Emily, but I am very happy she's somewhere safe, and she's well loved and not near me all.

Lol that’s totally fine! Though cresties are probably the most approachable reptile ever. No teeth, no claws, no thoughts just vibes lmao. They’re typically super chill and actually quite cute. Plus you don’t have to feed them live insects, which a lot of people love!

It's the skin. It's just so ... not good. It makes my teeth itch. I'm happy you love her. She deserves it :)

Hey I have a lot of tactile sensory icks so I get you!
