State parades are known in totalitarian states where closed states show what they think the outside world and its people need to see. Usually this is something that exalts the state itself, most often it is its military strength though, but here the socialist state of East Germany shows three desktop computers in one such state parade - July 4, 1987.

there is a somewhat interesting theory about how East Germany's focus on catching up to the West in integrated circuit tech soaked up foreign exchange and resources and contributed to the fall

i was wondering why this was black and white when it was only 87. but then i saw it was Easter Germany.
