How designers see developers – http://imgur.com/HVwSNQL

Hello 1997, good to see you again.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

and what is the deal with airline food?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's pretty accurate to anybody sufficiently trained in something looking at the people who use it.

10 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 0

I've worked with people who couldn't manage sweeping and mopping well.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who sells paint, the thing you are trained in doesn't even have to be complicated for the users to royally fuck it up.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

HAH. A dinosaur. Cause old people.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Yea, like users have the ability to fashion clothing from animal skins...

10 years ago | Likes 847 Dislikes 10

Are we just going to ignore the dinosaur?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the one user who knows what he's doing, but is not a developer... Them being dinosaurs with glasses only makes sense.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*angry grunting*

10 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

Found the developer

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Found the developer

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yea, like users have the ability to fashion tools like clubs to work with

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Like half of developers understand basic human behavior and communication. "I know how to code! I don't know shit about who for though"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They're store bought.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But I bought it from Urban Outfitters. They said it was Caveman-chic.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Please they are actually looking at documentation. This is so inaccurate.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

?1 Listen here you little shit

10 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 0

I can count the pixels in that image...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 18

"Can you blow up this print without it getting all blurry?"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No you can't

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm gonna go with 5.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

7424 pixels. Yes I can.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You didn't count them though. Lol

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I like how the dinosaur totally gets it

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As an IT major this holds true.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is so old that the cavemen have evolved into developers by now.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poop.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who works customer facing, I constantly remind our devs that our users are slow. "But this design is so simple, why change it?"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"press any key" ... a classic.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yuuuuuuup...

Repost. Needs more JPG.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This really needs to have another panel. "How Support sees users."

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The files are IN the computer?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All 10? How do they fit?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Computers are *really* good at folding things, and tetris.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess I'm a caveman because I think a developer is a guy who builds houses.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't a user a guy who needs to go to rehab?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a scene taken from a microsoft company pep talk speech or somethingDEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOP

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, chanting developers while dancing around on stage. For their 25th anniversary event.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Steve Ballmer. The man who now controls Microsoft, because Gates retired. Chanting "DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS" at a mass meeting.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Didn't they just get rid of him? Or he's on his way out, or something.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes. He retired/was kicked out. He owns the clippers now.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH! COME OOOOOOOOON!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why UX is a thing, and why I have a job.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Hey there! Me too! W00t.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huzzah to a fellow UXer!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He is the one! Quickly UXer, bless upon my software the ultimate Front End!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Linux user, care to win the lottery so you can give Open Source developers a hand?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Haha, I wish.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like Linux-style UI. I don't use Microsoft or Apple partly because their UIs aren't very usable for me.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually really like working through the terminal

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What browser are you browsing Imgur with? Do you compose all your papers in LaTeX or plain text? How do you fill a PDF form? ~

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I browse through Chrome. I have 2 PC's. One with Windows and a linux VM, and another with just linux.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you only play text based games? BTW, even these have a UX that can be better or worse.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am studying CS, so I do work through terminal for development, if I open files through it I use less or cat.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I spend 60-80% of my computer time typing into a shell, but hell if I can't do the tasks above conveniently.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a developer I can confirm that we usually hide secret "Make it better" buttons in our programs that we hope no one will ever find.

10 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 7

In tech support, I had a magic "Fix the problem" button, but I wasn't allowed to use it until I'd been through all the troubleshooting.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also keep a magic wand in my desk drawer to instantly fix user's problems.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The software I work on has some hidden menus for testing, and technical info. Nothing to really make the software better though.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Normally the "Make it better" button would give the layman enough rope to hang himself, however...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lies!!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hehehe... speedup loops! http://thedailywtf.com/articles/The-Speedup-Loop

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a developer, I can confirm this too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

As a "make is better" button, I can confirm.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Real developer here. This is actually true in a lot of systems. For example, you can preload webpages in Firefox with ALT+F4. Saves time.

10 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

You need Ultron. NASA uses it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

excuse me I was writing a very important email message to my boss, and your little 'prank' made me lose it.how do I get it back on my screen

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Ctrl+Shift+t

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I see what you're doing.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 16

*sobs quietly* I didn't even say what it is he was doing...

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

And don't forget the secret porn stash on all windows web browsers. They hide the x rated stuff behind the red X in the top right corner.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Does this also apply to IT guys?

10 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 11

Absolutely.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You're that kid in the seminar classes that asks stupid questions to feel smart, aren't you?

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

As IT Help Desk, yes.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yes

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 8

Maybe so

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

No

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 9

Maybe

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It appears I may not have been the only person with that idea.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

If the first thing we say to people with a problem is "Is the machine on?" or "Have you tried turning it off and back on?" then I'd say yes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

As a developer, kind of, I guess. Yes, probably. Final answer, yes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Read tales of an IT guy

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

As a former IT guy, totally yes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The peasants fear the IT wizard who fixes their arcane machines with but a touch!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

brainy IT guys

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an IT guy, we view the rest of the office as the 5 y/o cousin who puts a peanut butter sandwich into the DVD player and expects it to run

10 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 2

As a kid I once put toast into the vcr.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Ma'am, please click the star in the corner for your favorites. No Thats A gear. Thats an x. Thats a House."

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. Yes we do.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

At least kids figure out to put something in there. A lot of users fail to make any connection whatsoever between things like DVD and drive.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"My cup holder stopped working."

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

I'm totally stealing that.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked a computer store w/ my dad for about a year. This actually happened. We've found food and various....unmentionable things inside PCs

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I found a half eaten sandwich inside a tower once. it was old and gross

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gross. A customer brought by a tower without the side panel on it. There was a cat poo right next to the CPU.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ive see poo in a computer before, but nothing larger than a rat. cat is a new one for me
