I can’t copy and paste the post link for an image and see it in the comments as an image anymore… It presents the actual hyperlink to another page in the comment.

use copy image link when right clicking, and then paste that. Don't just 'copy image'.

Tap on the image. When the [] on the right bottom of the image appears tap that and load just the picture or gif. Then select the share arrow at the bottom right. This should give you the link to the image. Does that work for you?

That's not the link to the image though. that's the link to the imgur post. Some posts have multiple images.

I don't know how different iPhone and android are as apps, but I've always had to get the actual image link. The post link has always led to the whole post, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to link to a post if that's what you were trying to do. Would be a weird design choice to do it the other way

It's not the post link that you must paste, it's the image's url.

Ok let me explain better, it will work ONLY if it's an image from a post that only has one picture and is not public because that post's url wiill be the same as the picture's url (just without the .jpg or .gif or .png).
But the posts that have a title and the multi image posts get a different url (using the titlefor public posts).

Ok let me explain it better, using the iphone app there is only one way to post an image as a comment, it’s the press “copy post link” and that can be done on any image, wherever it is in a post or within the comment section. That’s no longer working. And I can tell you are not using an iphone because of this conversation

You can also post an image as a comment, if the image is in your favorites.

Ok. So...
1 - the app "lied" to you before because using the post's url never worked (except in one single case), so it must have used the real image's url.
2 - looks like it is now doing what it claimed it was doing... and that can't work.

Click on the image you want to link. Click the little right turn arrow at the bottom right. Click on copy link. Then when you go back to where you want to paste it, click and hit paste. The image (not a url) should show up.
I just did this on an iPhone 16.
