I don't know about nothing. I've been using imgur since 2014 (don't have my original account, I deleted it and only came back when certain imgur staff members got fired) and I can't remember how things were back then, primarily because i never bothered to take notice of title/author placement
And clearly it doesn't read as gibberish if you know there's been a change on mobile.
