I've always liked the term "If you meet idiots/assholes all day, what's the common denominator?" but the truth is sometimes you just meet a bunch of fuckin morons. A short bit ago I saw 4 near-crashes from random people far enough from me that I wouldn't have been involved, just on my way to work. 3 of which were clearly oblivious drivers, and 1 was just dumb. I've had people wait to cross a 45MPH+ "cross traffic does not stop" road until I was almost up to them and *then* they decide to go.

Sometimes it's a culture. I drove busses in Ohio for several years, and those drivers are miserable and they want everyone else to be miserable too. Hard to know kindness and courtesy when you've never seen it before.

Like, the road in-front of me had been clear, no oncoming traffic, for a good 20-30 seconds. And then when I'm about to cross their path, they decide "NOW IS THE TIME!" and I have to hammer the brakes. I don't know if it's just my anxiety or what, but I feel like I'm hyper aware of when someone is about to pull a dumb move. I tune in like a radar lock and start preparing to respond, and most of the time it's right.
