Clearly you don't know the rules of Giant Shrimp Volleyball! I'm giving you a red card, you can go and sit yourself in the Penalty Boiling Pot of Water!
I know artists do this kind of self promotion all the time and are celebrated, but ever since some big studios masked as indie were doing it, posting games in development has been extremely controversial on imgur. As a fellow gamedev and imgurian I would advise against this kind of stuff here. If you genuinely are a solo dev and want to succeed, there are better channels for that.
I try all the channels and not violate any rules. Yes, there are 30 downvoting guys here. But there are 400 others who upvoted what I’ve posted, so what is the problem? And yeah, if you know any channels that work - please share. Getting any exposure for indie dev is incredibly tough, people just don’t understand how tough actually, even if players fell in love with the game immediately - 95% chance the game still would be seen by almost no one
Don't get me wrong I my view it's a double standard we're seeing here. What I'm questioning is if your effort spent here is worth it. From what I've seen posting in dedicated forums like subreddits and discords dedicated to gamedev and gaming works better, with the added benefit of getting feedback on the game early.
Most of the commenters seem like regulars who've posted recent comments on things. But if you look hard enough, there are new accounts created today with meme names like "Nishandewan" which is a gimmicky name in reference to soccer players Ewan MacPherson and Colin Nish. Both are forward players for Scotland teams, both on different teams. Nice try OP, but you shouldn't leave a breadcrumb trail. Maybe if you start making your alt accounts appear as regulars, you could get away with it next time.
This is called paranoia you know. If only I had time and resources to watch Scottish soccer or manage Imgur bots. But no, I’m a single guy, doing my development and spending my extra hours to craft and post something beautiful here. Lucky I am not everyone here is so crazy about indie game developers trying to get a little exposure.
I’m a solo indie developer, making the game with zero budget, pushing only my time and efforts into it. I’m posting content from my game on my Imgur profile and sharing the link to the game only in comments for those who are interested. What s the problem with it?
Every single post, favorite, and comment associated with this account has to do with advertising games. Your assertion that you're just posting about your game on your Imgur profile is a bald faced lie. If this is just a regular Imgur profile, you haven't commented on a single other post? You have no other favorites? Lie better, ad.
Also if you read this rule fully it says not to use Imgur as img hosting for using outside, including advertising. That’s definitely not what I’m doing
Yes but why the hell is it advertising? This way we can consider any content sharing as advertising, but it’s clearly not. I’m not going through other profiles and spam unrelated promotional bs
Are you asking how "here is my product and here is how to get it" is advertising? Do things work differently in Russia, or should this be obvious to everyone?
See my other reply, you are taking one single word out of the rule and out of context. Next, traditionally in all social media posting links in the context and adding context to the discussion is never considered advertising. Next, I’m not in Russia. It’s your right to dislike me or my game or my post, I’m sorry for disappointing you. but I’m not violating rules here and lucky I am many guys above enjoy what I’m doing. I really got no more strength to argue, have a good day!
Looks like great fun and quite promising. Has a lot of the stuff I like; space, terrain deformation and a decent portion of (dark) humor, so... it made it onto my wishlist. I'm sure, one day it will make it into my pile-of-games-i-bought-because-i-want-to-play-them-but-do-not-have-the-time-for-it... :-D Good luck with the further developement!

I’m sharing content from my game in my profile that’s true. Consider it self promotion, so what? Most social media profiles are self promotion, aren’t they?

tater1337
Unfair, 2vs1
itrytoonlysaypositivethings
Yes, but they don't bounce as well, so we went back to using a ball.
3nd3rwiggin
Sad, no friend to team up with the one on the left?
TheGreatFluctus
That’s for player to join (and you actually can :)
FeedTheNachoMan
Can I sit in the referee chair instead?

This is the future libertarians want.
LoudBirb
I don't see enough corporate logos, dead migrant workers, smoke stacks, and child brides in there for that to be true.
TheGreatFluctus
That would be added to the game later!
LoudBirb
Okay, yeah, releasing unfinished games is definitely part of the libertarian present/future. Fair enough.

This is terrible! They're just tossing a ball back and forth. Why isn't one setting and the other spiking!?
On an unrelated note, who remembers slime volleyball?

Props for at least engaging on the topic instead of just doing the dump-and-forget marketing.
