When it's really cold here, my farts do the same thing...

Due to the butterfly effect, that is now a tornado in Alabama...

Things like this are not experiments, they are demonstrations.

I don't know why but the Scandinavian languages sound so cool spoken aloud.

"Inside Sarek" is also the name of an incestuous Star Trek fanfic I read once...

That's really cool

Brought to you by the Sesame Street School of Video Editing.

I love doing this when it gets below 0 in SD

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just don't throw it on yourself

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Then I will slowly freeze to death

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

if it doesnt evaporate before it hits you, then you'll get burned

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And then slowly freeze to death.

I'm so sick of this "experiment"

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was a big thing about doing this in Mn a few yrs ago with a pot of boiling water. Guess what happened.

Surgeons suddenly got a lot of training in skin-grafting?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of please, please, dont do this at home.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is how clouds are made

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AFAIK this is how artificial snowmaking works

I love to watch the YT vids about bushcraft camping ‘n stuff. Yep, love to watch ‘em from my nice soft chair in my nice warm house.

Also, I love “Camping with Steve.”

We’ve seen these dozens of times already but they’re still so cool

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's called Mpemba effect.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

'Cool' experiment (haha) but what I really want is details on your cooking setup :) !

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've done this up to around -15°C. Some drops hit the ground, but most of it flies away.

Now show us inside Spock.

Comment of the day. It's a deep joke and only a few will get it, but damn it hit so good.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Mr Stark I don't feel so good

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So did the water ever come back down

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's still upp there

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but a greater quantity of water, would that have powdered?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I have seen people do this with pots of boiling water from the stove.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve done about 3 quarts/liters, after that it gets a bit heavy to throw effectively, but should theoretically work

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: A cup of cold water won't do this. It needs to be hot enough to evaporate and supercool to the point of freezing.

2 years ago | Likes 235 Dislikes 3

Not really a fact. Cold water is already... cold. So it's more dense and will follow gravity better. Whereas non-cold is more loosened up.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 23

The difference in density is minimal; cold water doesn't have the energy to evaporate fast enough to cool the un-evap'd portion to frozen.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'm not sure if it's for the evaporation or that hot water has lower surface tension making the droplets smaller.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's hot. It's ready to evaporate. The air is stupidly incredibly dry.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, interesting

2 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

how cold is supercool... meaning, at what temperature would this work?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ice cold!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, that's cooler than being cool.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So what would this feel like on your hand if you reached out to touch it as he threw it? Cold? Wet? Just misty?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think so, really cold mist
