experimenting with drawer material. traditional fitted drawer with exchangable sticks of wood to test different kinds of wood (maple, beech and oak) and end grain orientations (flat sawn and quartersawn)

here are pictures of my setup, I'm measuring the distance from the back of the drawer, I'm taking 5 measurements, the sum of these measurements can later be calculated into an angle

another view, you can also see that I've cut a groove for the drawer to pivot on, I've also cut a little slit for the ruler to rest in so that stays consistent as well

I've made the drawer fit tight around the case, but not too tight (no resistance from the sides so I can focus my measurements on the bottom)

the drawer has a 2 kg weight in it, this is consistent over all of the tests

here is a view of how the slats are attatched, the bottom of the drawer has a little rebate, so does the detatchable bottom of the case, with 3 drops of superglue I can hold these in place firmly for the test, while being able to release the joint quiet easily as well. this is maple
