i saw her at the mall after i got out of a movie, and we locked eyes for a few seconds, then my mind, in 139 milliseconds, decided i didnt want to impose and i looked at her dog and said hi to it and kept walking. i felt so bad i wanted to tell her that her jinx performance meant a lot to me. now im telling you, imgur, lol
Honestly, she’s just not my type. You know when they’re too pretty AND they can handle a chain axe in the wasteland? Kinda off putting. And she’s into sex, which is a turn off.
I want to watch the show, but I just started playing Fallout 3 as my first Fallout game. I might have a ways to go before I know enough about the games to watch.
You don't NEED to know anything. My wife has never played it and she loved the show. There might be some references you miss but you'll be fine otherwise.
Not to mention, most of the references are going to be about the Interplay games, and New Vegas (which makes sense, because the show takes place on the West Coast, where those games take place), and a mention of the Commonwealth (Fallout 4) when the BoS show up.
Fallout 2 is more lore related to the show (and New Vegas and apparently even Fallout 4), Fallout 3, while fun, is on the opposite coast and has no connection that I am aware of to the show.
I think that's what I'm going to do. It's not that I'm worried about missing Easter eggs, it's that I don't want to see spoilers about the universe before I play them in game
you'll be fine. I promise you the show wont ruin anything for you. watch away. if anything, anything you find in game later will be that much more fun.
As someone with only second hand knowledge of the setting the show is pretty accessible, so if you like sci-fi and pitch black humor I'd say you should try it out. It's also a bit gory, which is something I'm often pretty sensitive to, but they pull it off in a way that doesn't bother me the way Game of Thrones does.
Bah. I've enjoyed every Fallout that Bethesda has released except Fallout 76 (which I loathe). Obsidian did a great job on Fallout New Vegas and I had a great time, but I never felt it was hugely better than Fallout 3 or 4. For me, the one I play the most is Fallout 4, because I love the base building. To each their own.
you arent wrong. the commercial and critical success of their IP being completely based off of something they didnt even make HAS to be raising eyebrows in boardrooms.
No, I mean this TV series has nothing specifically glorifying about NV, at all. In fact the NV subreddit was full of crybabies arguing it completely ruined NV and made it irrelevant.
It did a game right. Hit the right notes and focused on the human stories. Not too much fan service and some tweaks to make it work for episodic tv. Told myself it would be shit and I believed it till Walton goggins is lying to his daughter about the nukes and I’m like “THIS IS GOOD WRITING AND DIRECTION AND THATS BULLSHIT!”
I told you I wanted to complain about it the whole time. The second they get your feelings going on feels thats when being critical is over. I didn’t even care about the show i just thought Nolan shit the bed on Westworld season 3. Was so pissed. In my mind it ends at 2 and is perfect. So yeah I was all “you’re not going to get me with this DEI black daughter…. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! THATS HIS LITTLE GIRL!!!!!”
And yeah you can go woke with dei and totally do it right, when you write the characters an amazing fucking story. Representation matters but so does good story.

TI99Kitty
You might miss a few Easter eggs, but the lore is fairly well explained in the show. The stuff you *really* need to know is shown in flashbacks.
laserfork
My mom had never heard of Fallout before and really enjoyed the show. Give it a whirl.

I watched the show and then downloaded one of the games and enjoyed going "ooo they used that in the show, oooo they used that in the show, oooo-".

Ella Purnell also voices Jinx in Arcane.

I just found out she plays Jinx in the show Arcane. Holy moly her career has taken off like a shot.

Wait, whut? She was the voice of Jinx? I just finished that last night!

She's also in Yellowjackets. Amazing show.

She's in Yellowjackets too. (haven't seen Fallout, no real interest in it)

You are missing out. The story is pretty good, and the animation and music are top-notch. They have an original song performed by Sting and Ray Chen.

I just finished watching Sweetpea, which she is in... you may like that show then.

The whole series was basically a love letter to New Vegas. It's amazing Bethesda signed off on it.

bethesda didn't invent fallout, they bought it.
sadurdaynight
Hey, sometimes Bethesda makes mistakes, and something good slips through. They'll have to tighten the ship, and make sure it doesn't happen again.
idrinkcheapbeer
you arent wrong. the commercial and critical success of their IP being completely based off of something they didnt even make HAS to be raising eyebrows in boardrooms.
MoopsyLD
oh they demanded it follow a story script to the letter since its an official continuation to new vegas. bethesda wasn't taking any shit from amazon
esparadrapo
It was probably a deal breaker. "New Vegas style or we ain't making the show". I bet Todd is real mad at another success that isn't his.
Beardedgeek72
?
esparadrapo
Todd Howard hasn't scored a home run for over a decade.

did you even SEE the final scene? "nothing specifically" I don't know how they could get more specific.
ReelPoop
listen up, you bitches! i have no opinion but when the creator of Fallout the game said that they liked the show, i adopted that opinion
blaze1984
Okey-dokey
MoopsyLD
because its an official part of the storyline and no liberties were taken with it. the creator basically said to follow it to the letter.
