Recently finished the sniper scope for my laser rifle build!

I designed it to use lenses from an actual scope to make it functional

Pardon the instagram photos/videos, I had to source some from my story archive.
The majority of the master patterns were hand machined. Only the base and a dial are 3d printed/laser cut

Final test assembly before molding

Magnetized in place just like the reflex sight I made earlier

That is VERY cool.

I love how they design dumb shit in video games, worrying only about the aesthetics, and then some enterprising nerd makes a real life functional version of it 👍

I'm sure you looked at your options, but wouldn't it be simpler to use an existing small tube red dot and building a ''shell'' around it?
phaestoz
Possibly, however, the scope I used is cheap and has enough magnification to give the effect I wanted.

I've been debating making a laser rifle prop, you might have just convinced me to get the stuff together to do it now

That is a freaking sick job dude! Excellent craftsmanship! How much of the design was your own making or found files?
phaestoz
Thanks! I drew the designs myself. I always start by making mechanical drawings off images of the ingame model and then move on to machining

Hot take: beam splitter or no beam splitter?
phaestoz
It's definitely an option

Kinda meant if you prefer better damage per shot, or keeping the mod off for better DT/DR pass thru
