Make an account and go to your setting to turn most the ads off. Your adblocker can handle the rest. I haven't seen an ad on fandom in years

You are correct, between unlock and AdBlock plus I see no ads. The awful layout and back end bloat are still not great.

There are some CSS/JS skins you can add that will revert a lot of the new FandomDesktop styling to the original look, that may help you.
