I repair old computer systems as a hobby and I also build expansion cards like this graphics card. It’s supposed to run either directly in the Commodore Amiga 500 expansion Port or in the dedicated Amiga Zorro 2 Slot.

This was yesterdays work. I soldered most IC and some passives.

I had another card like those in this setup so all drivers were already installed. After programming the cpld the system rebooted and the card worked.

And that’s the result, a beautiful hdready screen at 16bit colors. Sorry for the moiré, in my hobby room the lighting is not optimal for those pics.
Sunday I’ll take the card to a friend where we’ll try it with the scum engine rtg, a version of the scum engine for e.g. Lucasarts Adventures which makes use of high speed graphics up to SVGA.

can the card still do copper related things? Can you pull the screen down and show a different resolution screen behind?

I still have to do a hack with a patched driver and a bodge but I’d rather use an older card of mine. You can use copper effects in native.

Really cool!

Thank you!

Did you scavenge the graphics chips from old svga cards as well?
nooneneedsmorethan16kofram
No, I got a tray of seven from an English sale. Some still have those in the back of their stores. Lucky me!
AntiProtonBoy
Yeah they look pretty fresh

So, it upscales?
nooneneedsmorethan16kofram
It’s a causal graphics card that adds several video modes to the computer. Since it also bring its own (fast)ram and blitter it’s way faster

How much RAM, exactly...
