Been working a lot on my zeldaesque game recently and implemented a fishing minigame. Finally I'm happy with the results and how it looks.

Edit: Wow, did not expect so much interest. Well, what can I say about the game? It is called Spindle and heavily inspired by Zelda. You play Death and are followed by a small cute pig. You have to figure out why some people are just not able to die anymore and help them find thier peace. Spindle is being created with the open source engine Godot.

Edit 2: Uhm, hello Frontpage. Hello Imgurians. Well, did really not expect this to happen. If you want to learn more about Spindle and why Death is accompanied by a cute pig you can follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/spindleDev

Sounds a bit fishy

+1 for it being a Godot game. I think this engine is gonna really take off for 2D games

Looks awesome. Reminds me of Phoenotopia. I mean that as a compliment. Keep up the great work.

A fishing mini game... that's what games are lacking these days.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Almost all my favorite games have a fishing mini game. But I mostly like open world RPGs that allow me to immerse myself in another world.

i don't mind if it fits the game but i did wonder why so many games feature fishing games? it seems that every game has one nowadays :p

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think that's been true since 1997...

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfarm

I was thinking more "Sonic Adventure"

I can still hear the Chao music from Sonic Adventure 2

Oh god yes. Hammered into my skull.

If you like games with fishing in them, Graveyard Keeper has a lot of it. Highly enjoyable. Played the whole game twice.

It reminds me of stardew!

I thought that cloud shadow was a big ass lunker lol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know it’s just a well done shadow, but I wanted him to catch that cloud SO bad. Great work!

Imgur has the most unimaginative game devs around. Everyone just rehashing the same gimmicks.

You my friend, are a certified ass. Wonderful job

I stumbled upon a "ad post" recently, and got the directions for a tutorial to create an rpg in UE4. These might be their first attempts 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

and instead of shitting on their "creativity" maybe input some constructive criticism. Their next game/attempt might do better. 2/2

This is why you don’t get invited to parties Stephen.

I don't play games anymore, but the concept sounds awesome!

This looks suspiciously like an advertisement...

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 4

So? People can be proud of the work they did and make money off it. Since when did that become a bad thing?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

OMG, Becky. Get OP's dick outta your mouth why don'tcha!?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indie devs often don’t have the budget to by ad space, so they have to get their stuff out any way they can(speaking from experience)

Hey now, the account has been around for awhile /s

It even has the "edit: WOW, this blew up" every single indie post has

I thought you were gonna catch a giant cloud shaped fish

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Dood, it's like a minor feature in most games but I fucking love sitting and fishing in any game I can. Will try 100%

Add a secret level where you use a special bait and the fish shadow gets huge and swallows you up. Then dungeon crawler inside.

4 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 3

I was waiting for the cloud shadow to go for the bait.

Lord Jabu Jabu!

DOOD, that hit me with nostalgia. The music and concept of the water temple is awesome.

Ooh I like this idea

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Call the dungeon Noah's Tomb

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Great idea!! But Noah had the big boat, I think Jonah was the one with the whale. Been a long long time since Catholic school.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

yeah you right, make it a boat INSIDE the whale, Noah's Tomb. THEN have a old guy named Gepeto, confuse the crap out of the story

Haha, well, I'm following the zelda-like and jrpg scene quite a lot as you can imagine ;)

can I have an apprentice named mort?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At first I thought that she shadow of the cloud was a gigantic fish.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Same I got anxious when they cast the lure so close...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very similar in appearance to the Zelda games

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

From what I read , it’s inspired by it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was my first thought, reminded me of the fishing hole in Link's Awakening from the recent switch remaster.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a maniac for indie games. The low budget forces creativity and gameplay over graphics fidelity.

Artists creative interpretation of irl left to your imagination > poorly acted high res render hyperrealistic uncanny valley characters.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm ngl, every indie game that gets posted here looks the exact same. The only one I can actually remember by name is Cloudpunk

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you ever played Dwarf Fortress?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am tired of these mundane sports games or versions of COD that sre just a revamp of the graphics

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Half of my game library consists of indie games. Temtem, Ooblets, Stardew Valley, Starbound, just to name a few.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right? I mean okay, technically impressive, but have you tried adding gameplay? 90% of games are the same 2-4 games over and over again.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

There's honestly nihil to very minuscule significance of a hyperrealistic render environment. We're trying to escape that buddy.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or minecraft reskins

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

can you pet the pig?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not sure if the pig wants this. It's a bit sarcastic

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the name of the game?

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 9

Game is called Spindle

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 5

I love games like this and love fishing in games for some reason. Always maxed out fishing before other skills in MMOs

Do you have a steam page so I can add this to my wishlist?
