My first big project is being built!

I have a small architecture firm where I am both the best and the worst employee (and the boss can be an ass sometimes)

In 2019 I got this project; design a modern 5bd/3ba house on a wonderful plot of land facing a lake. It has now entered the construction phase!

The plot had a sharp tilt, which necessitated a basement floor and a large ground floor.

The zoning plan had very stringent demands here, for example: maximum building height was 6 meters at the highest point. This forced the roof down to a mere 2 degree incline (will need snow clearing measures)

The owners wanted lots of windows facing the lake, so I suggested triple pane glas with argon filling as well as built-in lamellar curtains for heat control during the summer. The house faces the lake to the south, the north facade is nearly solid, except for the entrance.

It’s happening! I’m so excited!

I originally suggested prefabricated sandwich walls, but the builders took another path.

View from the nearly flat roof. I hope they go by my suggestion to lay grass and moss here, it will further insulate the house and make it more discrete from the road. It will also lower the visual impact for travellers who want to see the lake.
