My very first telescope arrived today so I spent some time in the backyard tonight with my new Celestron NexStar 127SLT.

Image data was captured via video on my iPhone XS (and now I reeeeaally want a dedicated telescope camera)

I used:
TLDF to turn video frames into images
Lightroom to batch-edit those images
Lynkeos to stack the images
Back to Lightroom to play with some sliders again

This was my first ever attempt to edit and stack planetary images. I'm hooked. I know this first one is quite bad, but I'm really excited to spend a lot more time with this telescope.

There’s no better feeling than looking at another planet with your own eyes.

It really is amazing. I felt a degree of fear. Like, holy crap it's actually real. It's really really real. (please don't crash into us!)

Super cool! How much of the banding could you see by eye?

Through the 25mm eye-piece they were surprisingly sharp. Itty bitty, but it looked like the Jupiter we all know.

Nice! Was the seeing good for last night? I bet you’re gonna have even more sharp images in future!

I did the same thing last night too! Saw Jupiter and Saturn.

awesome! I got a glimpse of Saturn and her rings before the clouds rolled in. Nothing captured with my iPhone though :(
