A first for me, I made a new tool for my lathe!

Jul 22, 2020 2:40 AM

Finished product first, it’s just a chuck for a grinding disk, anything will fit on it that doesn’t hit the bed, I will need to machine more spacers.

All the bits, I made those spacers and the rod, the nylon tube compresses in the tailstock to make it all snug. When I got this machine it didn’t have all the gears for threading soo.. this is a little jenky till I pick some up. Hmm.. guess I could print some...

Nothing fancy, but it’s always rewarding to make something that works well.

That’s all folks! Will sost again when I grind something worth sharing.

Disgruntled cat tax.. she’s definitely gonna pee on her pillow...

I can see that disc grenading from here. Nice shop! Much respect for lathes & milling machine operators. Old man was a die sinker.

*crouches behind tailstock* “IT’S PERFECTLY SAFE!”...

It works pretty well at low rpm, even 1000 heated up too quickly, soo I’m not super worried about it killing me.

isn't all that abrasive dust going to kill the ways?

Yeah, probably, but tbh it was pretty pitted and shitty when I got it, it’s not what I would call accurate..
