First Try simple wooden DM screen

I'm going to be DMing for my very first time, and I naturally used it as an excuse to build a bunch of new random shit. I've built many a dice tower, even one I'm currently building for an awesome Imgurian who saw one of my previous posts. (That project post will come within the next week)

I knew going in that it was going to be a prototype, so I just bought cheap white oak from Lowe's.

Every square inch of this shit was cupped. They didn't have any that wasn't but I wasn't going to go and spend a hell of a lot more on my beloved Walnut until I was certain I could successfully build one.

Magnets. How do they work? In this case, they will hold up my important DM papers. Embedded whosiewhatsit magnets that I can never remember the name of. I broke one so I'm waiting on more from Amazon.

I learned two things while doing these hinges. A) I'm awful at them and B) I'm probably ok at them but these hinges were definitely not right for this application.

Assembled test. Pre-finish, because tests.

I fucked up. I had to clip the tips off of the screws that came with the hinges because they were long enough to punch through the other side, but I had to set the initial threads in the pilot hole or the nubbed screws wouldn't bite. I got over zealous on a few and punched through, so I whipped a bunch of oaks sticks to add on the edges of all the panels and I slapped a little stain on them. It looks like I intended it to be that way, which is cool.

And this is what I will see. Except with one more magnet. With a customized initiative tracker on the left, laminated DM cheat sheets, and my best dice tower in front of the narrow middle board. I'll post one of it actually in use if anyone wants.
