Looks like lepidodendron bark, but that would be rather carbon than jurrasic

A fossil is any preserved remains, impression, or trace of any once-living thing from a past geological age.
State paleontologist thinks it may be an impression of a conifer from the mid-Jurassic period, but he's not sure on that.
It's in the hands of the state of Utah for now. May be a while before they can clean it and identify it though.

Those are scales of some kind. Very similar to far scales. Likely a prehistoric fish of some kind

Apparently this fossil is from the mid-Jurassic period. The oldest known gar fish fossil is from the late Jurassic... so not a gar fish.
