If it was the Potatotron 2000 there would have been a lot more smoke.

Who puts server racks right next to sunny windows?

I got to visit the Imgur office once, it was pretty cool. I got to see the rotting potato on @Sarah's desk, and they asked me if I knew what it was. "Is this your server?" Lol they loved that

It’s bigger than I thought

The server:

For gods sake, it's pronounced imgur. Just because @alsoashley can say it wrong, doesn't mean you can too!

I was sure they kept @deafkitten locked in there pumping out memes 24/7

And Elbowdeepinahorse is in a large wheel next to the rack, coming in on Sundays to power it for the week.

And they're still trying to work out how @elbowdeepinahorse keeps getting in there.

Should just have a raspberry pi glued to the panel side.

You sure?
That looks like it might be a little overpowered.

If you open up the tower there's just a potato inside

Actually I haven't run into Imgur servers being down in quite a while. It probably has more to do with the fact that most people who used to visit this site don't visit it at all anymore.

So thats where my thrift store find went, do hope it works out for them

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not a potato. I don't believe you.

Yeah here's the real one

That's just the power supply. They recently upgraded from Yukon Golds to Russets.

I thought the power supply were hamsters in hamsterwheels

Some say that windows 2000 is a sturdy backbone for any mainframe…

Were the hamsters at their feeding time?

Sounds like they need better ventilation.

That’s the server alright. If you want more rationale for why imgur is so awful to use you have to look at the code it runs.

user.clickonnotification {
sleep 60
x = random(1..100)
if x != 34 {
fail
}

Sorry team ... that is NOT mission critical infrastructure!!!

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's for the legacy app that's vital to the company which is unsupported so they just reboot it when it breaks.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least the cabling isn't a mess.

Who let the sysadmin out of the basement?

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

He gets let out to work on people's taxes during the tax season. Obviously.
