Add a skin modifier, ctrl+right click in vertex edit mode to extrude verts, "O" to use proportional editing (mouse wheel to adjust radius) and ctrl+A to scale the radius. Add a subdivision modifier for extra smoothing, a displacement modifier with some clouds for a little roughness, then, in a separate collection, create a mesh and put the boolean modifier on it, set to union, and use the tree parts collection as the targets to be booleaned. Finally, a decimate to cut down on the poly count.

Skin modifier is a bit flakey, so sometimes you just have to tweak things a bunch until you don't have holes/freakouts in your mesh. Just need to add twigs and leaves! Oh, and Fist of the Forgotten is the project I'm building with this, if anybody was curious.

What is that stream overlay with what I presume to be your viewers about?

That's probably "stream avatars" on steam. Every active chatter is displayed down there. Boss battles, battle royal, star grabbing...

Yep, Stream Avatars, like CloseupCaptionReaciton said. It's like $15 on Steam.
