Amazing man. He made his own steam engine and did history programs for the BBC after he "retired".

I'm glad the BBC happened to Fred, both for the money and recognition. The films of him singlehandedly erecting scaffolding 'round a smokestack and taking them apart from the top down...ooof! He's a hard man, but utterly charming.
