I like how Thor changes how he addresses Mr. Rogers after he lifts the hammer.

Man... This almost made me cry

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We can only dream of a guest special Thor(chris hemsworth) visiting Mr.Rogers and having this conversation on fred rogers show...

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We are losing people like Fred Rogers and getting back people like Andrew Tate

The center cannot hold

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry not sorry, in the comics, part of "worthy" is being willing to hurt others. I think Mr Rogers is too kind.

Yeah. Unfortunately I didn't get to see too much of him growing up but do remember loving what I saw.

Mr. Rogers willing to kill confirmed

6 months ago | Likes 185 Dislikes 0

Mr. Rogers was always willing to, for what is right and kind.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mr Rogers never tell people about what happened in those trenches in 1943.

6 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 2

That's where the phrase "kill them with kindness" comes from.

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mr Roger's in a bloodstained sweater.....

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was hoping someone would make a reference to The Ultimate Showdown lol.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mr. Rogers would've knocked the ballsack right off Thanos' chin

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mr. Rogers probably wants to kill evil, but plays nice doing it.

6 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Mr. Rogers knew that killing "evil" didn't mean killing evil-doers. It meant making the world a place where people don't want to do evil. It meant teaching kindness, compassion, and acceptance to an entire new generation of people who would want the world to be a better, less-evil place. :)

6 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Well, that's all well and good until the Chitauri come knocking. Sometimes you gotta actually be willing to kill, says Mjolnir.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That, precisely that.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Wasn't he a Marine at some point? Seem to remember that. And I bet if someone was threatening kids in his vicinity, he could rise to the cause of righteous violence.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Urban legend. He has enough acting credits that at no point would he have had time to be enlisted between productions.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From wiki: He registered for the draft in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1948 at age 20, where he was classified 1-A (available for military service);[11] however, his status was changed to unqualified for military service following an Armed Forces physical on October 12, 1950.

So it looks like his soul was willing but the body was unable

To quote Abe Lincoln: Have I not destroyed my enemy when I have made him into my friend?

To also quote Abe Lincoln "He's hitting me in the butt! He's hitting my butt! Don't break my butt! Don't break my butt! He's breaking my butt!"

one of my favorite quotes. on a somewhat related note: check out yozakura quartet!

Really glad Fred didn't live long enough to see us collapse into fascism.

cause -> effect

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fred Rogers lived through enough to see plenty of evil. He would have shown the reaction to today that all of us should, of being saddened by what's in the hearts of others but striving to help those who need it and to make sure everyone has a place where they always know they're loved and accepted.

6 months ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

How many times can I upvote this? Once doesn't seem enough.

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm feeling like Fred Rogers might've been someone who could speak to the disillusioned. To bridge some understanding. But of course, Trump would've called him a radical left socialist.

6 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It wouldn't be surprising. FOX news railed on fred Rogers a couple of times.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I try to keep his words in mind: "Look for the helpers. There are always people who are helping."

I... I am glad he was spared seeing how far we've fallen, but I feel that we still need his message. I'd like to think he would keep impressing on those of us who listen the importance of caring and acceptance.

Sorry, No . . "Mr. Rogers Lives Forever in us all . . . " !

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mr. Rogers of the hood. I LOVE it.

6 months ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

A pacifist would not be able to wield Mjolnir. Mjolnir is a weapon first and foremost. A weapon to be wielded in the defense of others. If you are not willing to pick up that weapon and use it you are not "worthy".

6 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 6

Fred was also an ordained minister. Mjolnir would not have moved for him. Now Bob Ross, otoh …

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Mr Rogers is a retired soldier, I'm certain he could wield mjolnir if circumstances led him to be required to

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is a common misconception. After registering for the draft he was found unqualified for military service due to health reasons.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hm. A hammer is a neutral tool. It can be used to build, to create, to tear down to make way for the new, to destroy, or to harm.

A hammer's purpose depends on the intent of the holder. Mjolnir in the hands of a worthy pacifist would indeed be light as a feather.

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Mjolnir's not a hammer in that sense. It was forged explicitly to be a weapon in every telling.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And swords will be used as ploughshares. Lots of things end up being used for purposes other than their original intent. Sometimes quite meaningfully. Repurpose, reuse, recycle.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except you're intentionally ignoring the magic that binds the hammer and is the only relevant bit here. It doesn't matter if you can use it as a regular tool, intent to use it as a weapon is required

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A normal hammer is a tool yes. But Mjolnir wasn't created to be a normal hammer. It was created to be a weapon. It's entire reason for being was to be a weapon.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Many things can be used for purposes their creators never envisioned, particularly fictional things, which are only bounded by imagination.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It has never at any point in any telling been used as anything but a weapon. Its the weapon of a warrior king to be used in the defense of his people. It is a tool for violence at its very core and to be "worthy" of wielding it one must be prepared to do violence when violence is called for.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You assume Fred Rogers wouldn’t fight. Isn’t there some proverb of “beware the anger of a peaceful man”?

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

"Three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man."

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Doors of stone when?

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Demons run when a good man goes to war."

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean it's not an assumption, the man was openly a pacifist. He would be betraying his core values if he just decided to start a fight.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There's a WORLD of difference between starting a fight, and finishing a fight.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't believe Fred would do either. I could just never see him in a physical altercation.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True. I agree. There are also a LOT of options for ending a fight. Only one of them involves using the Hammer.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think "wielded in defense of others" may be the telling phrase. A pacifist might not instigate a fight or fight on their own behalf, but if there's an innocent to protect, Mr. Rogers was known to defend those in need. His tools were just more tailored to modern verbal and bureaucratic battles rather than physical ones. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I think he would've taken up a hammer to block someone from being hurt by a nazi.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only blocking, of course. And he would probably also be the man to talk a nazi out of being a nazi.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It boils down to "Are you willing to use violence in the pursuit of justice?". Fred Rogers was not a violent man and I do not believe would ever seek to use violence even if it were justified.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe unboil it. Lol
That sounds like a cop's reason for why he's a bastard.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You really thing Mr. Rogers wouldn't go ham on someone for the right reason? I think he had it in him.

6 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

He was a staunch pacifist and a man who always held to his beliefs. If he did "go ham" on someone then would be betraying one of his core belief and I do not think he is a man that would do that.

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

He DID win the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

6 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

His poor, poor sweater.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In my brain Steve "Cpt America" Rogers and Fred "Mr." Rogers are related in some way.

6 months ago | Likes 407 Dislikes 0

Old Steve is Mr. Rogers new head canon

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He went back in time and retired, became a pastor, and decided to start a small public TV show for children. It took off, and he did his best to make the world a better place.

6 months ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

It’s a good headcanon

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Isn't steve's full name Stephen Frederick Rogers or sum

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They were obviously brothers! I mean, you can practically hear their mom yelling out the back door, "Fred and Steve, it's time to come in and wash up for supper!"

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I forgot to put the /s, in my comment, apologies to anyone who i confused!

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not at all, I could almost hear Mr Rogers saying "language"

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Imagine in the timeline whwre Steve lived out his day with Peggy, he ended up bceoming Mr. Rogers...

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can't prove this isn't true

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steven Frederic Rogers.

6 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Live by the Rogers rule: If Steve or Fred wouldn't do it, you shouldn't

6 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Pretty sure neither of them would've fixed this spreadsheets...

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm sure they'd have tried if you'd asked them nicely!

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmm, that's the correct answer, but not the one I wanted...

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Captain Rogers! It's so great to meet you!" "Please, I've been retired many many years, it's just Mister Rogers today."

6 months ago | Likes 156 Dislikes 0

Did Steve Rogers ever kill anyone deliberately? I do not think Fred Rogers would.

6 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Fred Rogers, contrary to rumors, probably never hurt anything. Was a college kid for music comp, went to seminary and got a bachelor's in theology, went to graduate school for child development. Dude was a champion. Maxed out the stats that matter most, being a good fuckin human.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

A super-wholesome non-horndog bard, indeed.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes. But they were Nazis. At least in his initial adventures.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Some people embrace goodness because it's the right thing to do. Some people embrace goodness because they understand what life is without it.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think Mr Rogers ever but Bob Ross certainly did...

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

20 years, Air Force, United States of America!

6 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fred Rogers is retired military Navy I believe sweaters were to hide tattoos

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Nah. He registered for the draft in 1948, but was deemed unfit in 1950 and never served. Makes you wonder if Mr Rogers could have used some of that serum...

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yep, I heard the same stories. That he couldn't serve but instead went to help children instead say a lot about him.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Huh that's crazy years ago in highschool we had teachers telling us what I said, not surprised lots of misinformation in the 90s

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So what you’re saying is Fred Rogers is the alternate universe Steve Rogers who tried signing up for the draft, got rejected, but was never selected for the super soldier program.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As he was the last man standing in the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, I would beg to differ.

6 months ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

WOW throwback, I needed that memory thank you!

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Weirdly enough this popped back on my random youtube music playlist last week

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, he is a WWII veteran after all, he didn't fight all those Nazi and Hydra soldiers bare handed. His actions have also resulted in many indirect casualties during large scale battles. But never outside of actual combat situations. He has high morals and prefers non-lethal means if possible. I believe Fred Rogers would understand.

6 months ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

Lets not tell him about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He registered in 1948, but never served and then was found physically unfit in 1950. Him as a soldier is just an old urban legend, like how he secretly has tattoos under his shirt

6 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

I think they meant Captain America not Mr. Rogers?
