Quick note: Please don't use the sharp side of the knife to slide off your fruits or veggies or anything else chopped on a cutting board. That can lead to it getting duller faster, which isn't all that safe. Use the back of the blade. (I'm not blaming the frog for not knowing this, though; how would a frog know such a small detail? They did a very good job otherwise.)

It's looks like the frog puppet was just rigged to be able to make certain motions. My guess as an uninformed observer is something like wires in the arms to make them grab/hold/move things that are in the scene.

Could also be that instead of shooting in normal stop motion, which is 12fps, that they shot it at double speed and did 24fps, that could account for the smoothness.
