Upside: I live in a city with amazing public transit, and 2 of the sites I work at are right on a light rail system.

She lives in another city and I'm gonna have to take an hour trip out to see her. Plus I have a lot of stuff I'd have to lug back and forth.
I have an appointment with a mechanic on Monday already set up, I was just hoping my car would have survived until then.

Get it fixed then? He offers and many other methods too.

Going to, I hope. The worry is money and if it's even possible.

Those store-based credit cards are more predatory than the big name ones.

Did Firestone write this?

Getting a CC and putting your self in debt is not the best path in the long run. Sure your current situation is rough, but only temporary.
BIC777
It does seem suspiciously specific.

My car is at that sweet spot where any money put into fixing it is a waste of money that should go towards getting another car but another car is too expensive the way the current used market is. fml

As long as you put the money into fixing critical parts first, the rest can be done at your convenience.

That's where I was, I think. I hope it's not gonna be too expensive and I can just set back my new car purchase by a month.

I just had to spend $1,700 for the AC unit in my car. It's paid off and a new one isn't really a good idea. The good news is tha tit has just 51,000 miles on it. Still, I didn't plan on the expenditure.

I feel you. My car has 180,000 miles on it and they estimated $500 just to diagnose why the heat doesn't work lol. I just keep a few blankets in the back when it's cold out.

If your car is needed 'equipment' for your job role, do they contribute specifically to keeping it roadworthy, or planned alternatives to reach all their clients? Seems like a 'bus factor' thing if they have staff without the means to do their duties.

I work security, and 12 hour shifts. The contracts we have are numerous and all over the place. Having a car is the difference between a 20 minute drive to and from work and an hour transit ride to and from.

Some of the places are worse because it'd require multiple busses, and that adds to unreliability if one is late, or one just doesn't show up.
