Gallbladders are dumb.  Small dump of things I've eaten this week that DIDN'T set off my gallbladder for some reason, despite being told they would.

Meatball sub from Firehouse. (I ate half of a medium one)

Birria Tacos from Papa's & Beer (I did in fact finish all three of these and they were fantastic)

Spicy Buldak Ramen (I'll be honest, I only use half the sauce packet and I add a little in sour cream and cheese and lime and it's divine.) This is a comfort meal for me.

SALAD with lunch meat (chef salad) DID set it off so bad I thought I was gonna die and cheeseburgers just hate me now :(

Surgery to take the dumb gallbladder out on the 20th and honestly, I'm terrified. I've had two c-sections but nothing like this. Everyone keeps telling me that it's simple, and that I'll be fine but I'm still scared.

Send hugs or something? IDK.

South Carolina actually.

I had mine removed. Almost a piece of cake. Eating is much more fun now. Just to be comfy I would buy a small pack of adult diapers to use as you evaluate your new diet. Much nicer to throw out than clean up. 🫧🧼

Compared to c-section, I had both, its like a walk at the beach, when they can do it minimal invasive.

my roommate says I can't wear a capri sun logo to the laparoscopy :( something about surgeons need to not be laughing to operate

I had mine out, and you will be okay. You'll find some things will just be a no-go for you, and some things you get to roll the dice on triggering the gastric exorcism. I also had issues with urgency in the beginning, so maybe be prepared for that. The freedom from the pain is worth the change. You've probably had issues for a while and only noticed when things came to a head. Make sure you report back once you're recovered, and take care to prevent post-surgical herniation!

thank you! My friend tells me that he felt immediately better, like the next day (aside from the incisions healing of course) and the surgeon said that he thinks a LOT of what I've chalked up to firbo and lupus may actually be my gallbladder. Apparently most people have stones and never know it, just us lucky few it makes miserable enough to divorce our organ.

It took me YEARS until I figured out it was my damn gallbladder that was giving me those AWFUL stomach aches (fetal position in the tub with cold water showering down on me for hours). Ever since I had it removed (super easy BTW, just three little incisions for me) my quality of life has increased. Sure, my stomach can't process certain greasy foods, but anything is better than those damn stomach aches

I have been favoring my right side for literally a decade. Refusing to lean on it, avoiding things that put pressure there and just told myself it was nothing. Surgeon thinks perhaps it's been causing problems the whole time and just finally got bad enough that I have to do something about it now

Just for balance - I had my gallbladder removed some 20-odd years ago after suddenly getting pain from the (many!) stones inside it. Never had any problems eating anything before or since, and never had to worry about adult diapers either.

I'm going to be watched by my other parents for the first week post op (lol best friend's mom said "Bring her here" and we do not argue with the chaos gremlin/retired teacher) I'm not too worried about dumping afterward as they've both had the same surgery (they had gastric bypass at the same time) and know how to handle the care and feeding apparently?

It sounds like you have good peoples watching out for you - don't forget, always tell the medical people the truth and let people help you!

yep, they needed to know that I'm a ninja red-head regarding anesthesia and I was honest about the occasional edible to deal with lupus/fibro pain

Same. Had it out for 2 years now and aside from not being kept awake at night with the pain, nothing has changed

I am a right side sleeper (at least falling asleep) and that sharp, ache is driving me mad.

After years of my doc treating me for reflux I’ve started trying to sleep on my left. I dont have reflux I have gas. If I lie on my right or back that gas pushes up acid. On the right we’re good

Yeah, I tried left side sleep and I just can't
