#12 not sure how the daily hours are calculated. I can’t only confirm that it takes 3.6 times more hours to pay the tuition fee with minimum wage (without any side effects)

#6 This is part of the explanation. Another big factor is that a lot of the groups that are most likely to die young are the same ones who trend liberal in their politics. Part of why older generations are more conservative i that a substantial chunk of their liberal contemporaries died along the way.

(I have a personal theory that "the progressive positions of my youth are today's mainstream" is also a factor, but don't have data to support it.)
