Just now at 11:00 was the first test of the warning by cell broadcast. In addition local warning sirenes went off, too. Sadly such system wasn't in place last year, when parts of Germany were flooded in summer.

No siren here and no message either. And I know the siren here works, it gets tested every 2 weeks. At least the Katwarn app worked.

smartphones. The old phone you gifted to your grandma 20 years ago could recieve cell broadcasts... if they would do it right!

They sure did. I forgot about that. It scared the shit out of me and my cat, so I guess it's effective.

Friend of mine was in a meeting and their boss at first got angry "Who forgot to turn of their phone?" then every phone went of.

I'm next door to you, to the west. Got a similar message

But we train our system every month. Not a bad idea for other countries!

At my previous job we weren't allowed phones on the work floor. Everyone turned the volume down and took them anyway and these messages >

I mean, this is precisely why forbidding phones in general is silly. They can be made to not interrupt outside of emergencies.

Biggest problem. Its not in the messages app. You have to search in notificatons list if you want to read again

I don’t know about android but on iPhones there’s a dedicated function for this, it ignores dnd and the message stays until acknowledged

it’s way more alerting than a text message, you can’t miss it. My country tests it every 6 months
