I didn’t even realize I was adding “Reddit” to the end of searches to optimize Google results, until I read an article about it.

it's been useless for about 5 years now. even for techshit it's useless, and that used to be the strong point. good riddance imo.

I mostly use Startpage... which uses Google but gets rid of their trackers and all the annoying tag-on "features" (genuinely, AFAICT).

I've fully moved onto bing. It seems to have fewer GPT-written search results.

I really don't know what you folks are talking about. I find what I'm looking for, whether with Google or Bing.

The problem is that all the walkways have become overcrowded with merchant kiosks and advertising placards.

The worse search engine for me is Amazon - it seems incapable of returning anything related to what I'm searching for.

Deliberately so, it seems. It doesn’t want you to find what you are looking for, it wants to show you what they want to sell.

I just fuck off to eBay where I can generally find what I want in a few seconds.

Oh, definately. It's what several EU-fines were about. The rigging of search eesult to, heavily, favor their own services and stores.

It's completely useless when you're trying to look up information or parts numbers for cars or motorcycles. It just gives auto parts >

< stores as a result. No, Google, Autozone doesn't have the thing I need, stop suggesting them.

Yup its usually O'Reilly, autozone, and advance that pops up on the search results, and while they may have fantasy items from movies, >

< they don't always have actual parts a real car would need.
