There are enough other competitors doing a fine job – and are somehow compatible with Lego. So... don't make your life harder than necessary. Lego was not really cheap for at least 30 years. That's not new. It has only gotten noticeably worse with those models that aim at adult people. Use alternatives that are just as much fun.
