My MAGA friend says: "I just don't believe Trump is evil"
Sad state of affairs - social media is to blame.
The US president is willing to sacrifice an ally, for publicity.

What if he throws a super curveball, arrests Putin and starts WWIII?

That ain't your friend, that's the informer who will earn Trump Crypto for turning you in
SavageDrums
I'm hoping that some members of the military will honour their oaths and take out Pooty's plane while Tr*mp is on board.
ilovetraveler
How anyone can look at teump and not see him as a sniveling, cowardly, evil fascist is mind boggling.
bourbonandbaddecisions
Michael Wolff needs to release the Epstein tapes.
NoCapForRealForReal
Absolute piece of shit. Him and Maggie Haberman. Absolutely shameful journalists, withholding critical information from the electorate for profit.
I'd spit on either of them, if given the opportunity.
anerdwithaknife
It fortunately seems that a lot of people who don't give a fuck about Ukraine still care about Epstein. I fail to see how US pulling out/abandoning Ukraine will have a huge domestic impact especially considering the inaction so far this year. It has broader implications for Europe/EU, but that's not where the Epstein attention/pressure comes from.
dontrike
He will absolutely try to sell Alaska to Putin.

Given Trump's negotiating skills, it's highly likely that Putin will not only retain the Ukrainian territories he has occupied, but he might even regain Alaska.
NoPantsOhClock
Is there a betting table somewhere on what nickel-plated smooth brained idea Trump is going to use for a distraction this week?
getadogupya
If he's that desperate for a distraction, he could fucking die... that'd do it.
bippityboppitybuttsex
The big thing he is planning is giving Alaska's resources to Russia...
Sounds like I am making it up, doesn't it... like I just thought of a bad thing and said it... I wish: https://www.newsweek.com/alaska-russia-trump-resources-2113295
bippityboppitybuttsex
I will note, it couldn't happen to a more deserving state... trump won by double digits and they elected Lisa Murkowski to end their own healthcare... it is kind of karmically amusing.
NoCapForRealForReal
Michael Wolff isn't affiliated with Trump. He's a journalist who has interviewed Trump and Epstein extensively, written several books on his administration, and STILL WON'T RELEASE THE HOURS OF INTERVIEWS he's conducted with Jeffrey Epstein
animatronicChristmasChickens
Tell your friend it doesn't matter what they believe. Trump's actions show that he is doing evil

I expect him to propose economic deals with Russia - letting them steal resources from Alaska as a payment for ending the war.

TheOvy
Michael Wolfe is notoriously full of shit. But this is a prediction anyone could make, because Trump's goal *every single day* is to deliver shocking news. His entire approach to governance is based on TV ratings -- "what will get people talking about me today?" You need not claim the authority of constant liar like Wolfe to establish that, though.
NoCapForRealForReal
Oh, he's a bloviated jackass sitting on a fucking mountain of audio interviews from both Trump and Epstein. Douchebag is 100% part of the problem - fucking with his responsibility to democracy to make a buck.
*Sigh* He knows a lot though, and is usually right.
TheOvy
Nah, man, he's constantly using hyperbole and embellishment: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/07/michael-wolffs-fire-and-fury-some-of-the-facts-just-dont-stack-up.html He doesn't actually *know* anything, but he makes a shitton of money off of the perception that he does. The only good journalist on Trump is Maggie Haberman, and you'll never see her making shit up like he does.
Heelcat70
He will sell out Ukraine some more to Putin to remove the attention from the files. I hope it doesn't work.
NM156
Anyone betting on murder mystery at the summit?
anabobcatz
The fact that society has found the one thing that really scares him reminds me of the moment in the original predator moment where they figure out that the creature can be hurt and that there is hope.

Turns out that people don't like pedophile rapists, donny boy.
bippityboppitybuttsex
That is objectively not true. The RNC LOVES pedophile rapists... #NADQ
Selfinflictedwounds
* Everyone who is not a registered Republican ...
freshthrowaway1138
That's not quite true:
"Survey found 47% of Republicans would still vote for Trump even if implicated in Epstein's crimes"
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/republican-voters-trump-epstein/
DukeDarkwood
You mean 73%; I'm counting the 26% that 'refused to answer' as "I'll still vote for him, but I don't want to admit that to you."
He's losing followers, and that IS a good thing. I don't think many will swing to the Democrat side (those who would have left the GOP years ago); they'll look for third-party candidates or find another Republican to back.
If even 10 of the 27 percent who said they'd change their vote actually do, that'd still be seven million votes he'd lose. Although, frankly, I'd
DukeDarkwood
only expect half that much... at my most optimistic. And again, it's not like they can be counted on to add to Democrat votes. These people were fine with treason, detention camps, broken promises, economic collapse, and NON-child rape. It took kiddy-diddling to lose them - most likely because a lot of them are, themselves, parents, and no matter HOW you look at it, pedophilia is very incompatible with their professed 'family values'. And only some of them.
freshthrowaway1138
Good catch. I didn't want to include those numbers because there would have been some kerfluffle about it; but you're right. Those people are not our allies. They might not support Trump or they might, but in the end they will not support humanity. Only oppression.
DukeDarkwood
While I do not COMPLETELY rule out the possibility of reform, we are at the point where the person will need both a wake-up call, AND enough people who still care enough to deprogram them. And a willingness to admit that they were wrong - a denial of that is a refusal to change.
However, I consider the amount of such people to be statistically negligible (although every single one is still a win, in itself). Because of that negligibility, I didn't want to muddy up my overall assessment with it.
SteveMND
At this point, the only "shocker" here with the Epstein Files is that people still seems to think that it would in any way make a difference by this point. The only people that would be morally outraged at this are the people who ALREADY are morally outraged by it, and we have a lot of MAGAs who are already making excuses for Trump. If anything, the Epstein Files are a convenient distraction being taken advantage of to keep our eyes off all the actual fascist shit they are CURRENTLY doing.
DukeDarkwood
The crazy part is that this is even breaking his base as much as it is. The entire reason he's desperate for a distraction is because the complaints are coming from within MAGA. I DO fear that many will return to the fold if he can net a few 'wins' (by their measure) and successfully distract them.
But some of them *have* left. Oh, they didn't suddenly become Democrats, they just lump Trump with everyone they hate, and will be easy prey for other GOP candidates.
(cc: @Selfinflictedwounds )
alrightalrightalrightpartyatthemoontower
This. Epstein ran a honey pot and maybe worked for intel and maybe blackmailed people. Ok all true probably. This is not even the most absurd thing anymore. We all are less innocent for knowing this. But the fascism is happening in real time and let’s deal with that in then now.
Geistbar
You underestimate the volume of Americans that are low information on politics. People who don't really care all that much, and get by on the "vibes" of coverage that they get through indirect interaction. These are the kinds of people who think a president is great if gas prices are low and horrible if they're high, regardless of the reason.
Those are the people that will react to it. There's a lot of those people. Even politically involved people are often only semi-informed, for that matter.
Selfinflictedwounds
I agree. With all that has come out about him being in the Epstein files multiple times, 1 of Epstein's victims naming him as a 1 of her rapist... his MAGA will at best ignore it, and at worst applaud it.
loedout
I disagree. This seems to be the ONLY thing that's actually moving the needle with his base. As they've lost friends and family and been labeled traitors and racists and imbeciles, they've maintained a sense of moral superiority because they actually believed that Trump was taking on the pedophile and criminal elites. They could dismiss everything else as deep state lies or as ends that justify the means. But now that foundation is eroding and their delusions are falling apart.
ElroydIsGone
I think Trump's panic is real here. "Epstein" was never about kids for MAGA. MAGAs have been riled up for years on years about some "evil, liberal, globalist, elitist conspiracy" lurking in the shadows, that their glorious saviour Trump would root out and all would be great again in America.
Pedophilia was just the glue to attatch moral outrage and the name "Epstein" held everything together. Trump being in the files puts him into the "cabal" and collapses the whole MAGA belief in him.
zechor
It would probably cost him the midterms which would still his hopes for a 3rd term which is likely to land him in Jail. If he can hold out until after the midterms and somehow manages to survive the midterms I will be scared.
SteveMND
Sorry, midterms? You think a fascist regime who finally has ALL the power and control—and are currently doing a dozen illegal things an hour—will somehow allow perfectly legal and completely-not-tampered with MIDTERMS that could put them ALL against the wall?
We're WAY past the point of expecting "working within the system" to have ANY chance of taking DOWN said system. A fascist regime will simply IGNORE the system as needed. That's kind of a hallmark of being a fascist regime to begin with.
zechor
If you think we are already that far gone, what do you suggest we do? Is it time to move to Canada?

If Trump really wants to get Epstein out of the headlines, the answer is easy. He could reverse course and support Ukraine wholeheartedly. If Trump came out and declared Putin as the aggressor and gave Zelenskyy significant and urgent support, Epstein would be sidelined indefinitely. The Ukraine 180 would be the news, the reaction to it would be below the fold, effects on world markets would be page two, and this Epstein business would lose all its oxygen.
ThM1ck
Nope, because I don't care one way or the other what Trump does in Ukraine. If we pull out, Europe will step up. We will still loudly demand the Epstein files... it's not going away.
Selfinflictedwounds
Ignoring that doing such a right thing would give Trump a seizure, totalitarian despots are the "cool kids club" that Trump is so desperately trying to impress and be a part of. He is not going to against Russia because of that.... dropping down and giving Putin head while saying "See how cool and tough i am!", entirely possible but not backing Ukraine. Way tougher to sacrifice someone to show he's a strong man too.
Jackthemayor
That involves doing the right thing and Trump has shown that he ain't about that life
SquiddelyDooDoodlyDoo
That's the thing about predators
They want the power to control, they want the power to get whatever they desire whenever they desire it.
So he won't take any action that benefits him unless it also doesn't benefit others he can't control.

Trump works for Putin, it will NEVER happen but we will be pissed if he gives Russia minerals, fueling their war, and gives them lighter sanctions, also fueling the war. Trump deserves capital punishment for treason

Russia has so much shit on Trump as his only bank for decades. It won't happen because the money transfers tell everything

This is probably it. Bet they were his financial people for Epstein.

Whatdoyousaytoanicecupoftea
Surely thats also going to prompt puuty to release all the piss tapes etc...not saying it's a bad thing...just saying
TheSilverSeraph
Why would he do that if instead he does the exact opposite and completely gives Ukraine to Russia, and for good measure send in special forces to capture Zelenskyy.
That would cause more outrage, more distraction and at the same time please Daddy Putin. Win-win-win in Trumps's mind
lickahippy4fun
Except Epstein had already sold evidence to Russia and Isreal. They have worse than a paper trail.... they have videos of Trump and many other powerful people molesting little girls. It's why Trump will fight tooth and nail to defend their atrocities because they are protecting his.
GoneSolo
Suppet Palestine too
kojenk
If he really wanted to distract from the Epstein list, he could reverse course and charge 90% taxes on billionaires, including on the loans trick and shares, and cut taxes for the poor to middle classes.
Cranbananarama
That requires thought and good decision making skills. He lacks those. Also, it'd tick off his puppeteer.
JohnSmithterms
Nothing trump does is for the good of humanity. I am expecting ww3 and nukes within 5 years.
ItsACrazyWorld
Hes going to do the opposite. Hes going to declare Ukraine is the aggressor and promise military aid to Russia. Thats how far he will go. He will start WW3.
NM156

BurningVeryImportantThings
It's not that he is incapable of doing nice things. It's that even when he does something that can be perceived as "nice" is done for a selfish reason. I don't think he even considers his actions in terms of good and evil right and wrong. His narcissism is so deep that the only way something can be "bad" is if it hurts or offends him personally. The only way something can be "good" or when he is being "nice" it's 100% self serving. His evil nature makes inflicting pain and evil just as pleasing.

johnblood616
Friends with Nazis?
NoCapForRealForReal
It's very complicated. Brainwashing is real.
johnblood616
Youre friends with Nazis?
Zyrixion
It's not complicated at fucking all. There are two camps of people, the people for human rights and the people cheering for innocents being put in concentration camps. If that doesn't move the needle for someone, they're past saving, they have no humanity left in them, they are our enemy and the enemy of civil society, nothing more. There is no one I would not disown and disavow for holding these kinds of beliefs. Brainwashing is real but that also doesn't matter, because they are hurting us
Zyrixion
Anyone still cheering for trump deserves to be lined up and shot, and people like you making excuses for them do nothing for anyone.
LychFinderGeneral
That's the thing though, isn't it? These people are told, and believe, that there *are* no innocent people being sent to concentrate camps. They're genuine in that.
I don't even know what you do with that. Stupidity can't be a crime, but fuck me it's proven dangerous
Zyrixion
There's nothing to do but exterminate it. It sucks to say but we're at that point, we had decades of offramps and chances to not let shit get this bad but we took exactly zero of them so now we gotta deal with the worst timeline. It's gotta be whole ideology-killing level shit, extermination, oppression, sterilization, etc. They can't ever be allowed to participate in governance, and they can't be allowed to make more of them. We can't take half measures like we did in the civil war.
Zyrixion
If we let them run free they will just do this again, just like last time. They aren't going to stop trying to destroy civil society until there are none of them left, and there's no two ways about that.
LychFinderGeneral
I'm uncomfortable with the idea of exterminating low intelligence people.

Let him freaking try. Alaska is basically Texas but cold. Most citizens are armed to the teeth. They kinda have to be with half the wildlife they have up there. I'm sure they would have no problem exercising there right to bare arms that the Republicans love to constantly whine is being taken away.
themigbro
Please stop with the "we have more guns than Texas", it is irrelevant, whole mainland USA has lost its freedom, without one shot fired. And you as a nation allowed the conman to do this.
Pokegeologist

CorgiInALilBlackDress
He is slowly doing that. The mineral rights mean they can have industry. Industry requires settlements. Settlements require infrastructure to keep them afloat. All of this requires construction. Putin style Russians are known for saying they're doing one thing while doing another. They'll build military structures and pepper in some mining structures.
America needs those minerals- but trump doesn't care as he will be dead by the time the next invasion starts. Ukraine is just the beginning.
